Palace 9"
Thunder 151, Riptide KranK ShortStreetCone 96A bottom, Bones Hardcore hard top
Spitfire F4 93A used to be 56mm radial, now more like a 46mm conical
Bones Swiss
7x Shorty's Silverado's 1 1/8", 1x Jart 1"
Bullet grip

Old Mafia/HLC board was a pretty nice shape, though I notice it is pretty much 1:1 the enjoi/DSM 9" shape on different wood. And the wood must have lost it's pop and got soggy, why else would my trucks be all banged up, can't be my fault. :D

Back on the trusted Ishod 8.5 twin after my Label 8.75 finally gave out and I couldn't make the Foy 8.5 twin work because it was way too flat. Not too hyped to break in new trucks on a new deck but sometimes it can't be helped.

8.5 Ishod twin
5.8 V8s, brought in
97A F4 57mm radials
Quantum Isotopes
Pepper
I actually had your issue in reverse. Switching from a Neen DW twin to the Ishod stacked cars twin. The Ishod was basically paper flat even compared to the already mellow DW and the deck itself felt soggy and unresponsive right off the bat and I had to retire it. I chalked it up to either it not being my preference or just getting a dud, and unfortunately haven't gone back to Real ever since. Maybe I should give it another go if I ever stray again from the G069.

Also key sticker placement on that deck haha

Finally had the time and inclination to make a trip to a local. Happy to get a shop board and a few rolls of pepper for $61 out the door.

Vú 8.5” (South Central wood)
Pepper Grip
Venture 5.8 forged
Bones Reds
Slimeball Vomit Mini 97a (~53mm)
that would be crazy if your skin was made of hammers.

You probably got an Easy Rider Concave edition, DLX's flatter mold. The more common regular concave Ishod Twins (and most Real/Krooked/AH boards) have a steepish concave. Easy Rider is flatter than a Deathwish mellow, Deathwish mellow is flatter than the standard DLX.

Here's DLX Easy Rider marketing showing their two concaves on top of each other.

The Palace 9" felt really familiar also. So I had to check. And it is indeed very much like the 9" Creature "stump" I set up last year.

A couple millimeters longer in wheelbase and a couple shorter at the tail, slightly more round at the kicks, otherwise it's like the same shape. Really nice board.

Put some 54mm 99d classics back on there

The 58mm 93d radials were great but I felt like I was sticking on crooked grinds more than usual, and I probably don't need so much wheel really

There have still been a good number of really mellow mold DLX boards here and there, almost random as I often get mulitples of the same boards, with others being more normal in concave, with the occasional super flat board mixed in, so that might explain some boards feeling off or way too flat for some people, while others feel too steep or normal.

Could also happen to other BBS woodshop boards too, but I haven't seen it quite as much.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

The graphic on this deck is fuckin terrible imo but I snagged it for 30 bucks on sale so despite it looking awful I couldn’t pass.
Real 8.5 x 31.8
Thunder 149

This is my second smaller length 8.5 in a row and I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t really skate boards that have a wheelbase smaller than 14.38 and a length under 32” always feels like my legs don’t have enough room to spread out. Wish dlx would make a steady supply of team boards on the 8.5 shape that has the 14.38 wb and 32.1 length. That one is perfect to me.

If you check the Summer drops, each brand currently has at least one of the longer 8.5 shape out, which seems like it is around a bit more right now but as you said, there always seem to be a lot of the smaller 8.5 board, with over twice as many in each of the Summer drops from Real, Krooked and Antihero, as well as their regulars on the Real ovals, Krooked eyes and Antihero blue eagle.

Currently there is the Real Huf Cathedral board (and an 8.38 in the same graphic), Krooked Wilson Link and an Antihero Doobie Catch of the Day board if you did want to try to track down a few of them.

Hope that helps.

Oh nice yes thank you that does help any of those boards would be great they all have the same specs. But yeah I’m assuming the smaller 8.5 does better numbers sales wise for them to consistently keep that in rotation. I’ve noticed almost all of Patrick pramens boards that have come out have all been in the longer 8.5 shape that I like. Hell if dlx made the price point decks on that shape I’d still buy em as well

Re DLX price points - was talking about them the other day with someone.  Funny that they seem like they have stopped doing them all together now.  There are still some here in AU, but they seem like they might have cheapened the brand or just had a bad rep as they did seem to break fairly easily, so I would never recommend them to anyone other than light weight skaters, beginners, or anyone who never ever breaks boards.

We also have the OZ Eagles, which is a special version of the normal eagle on that nice 8.5 shape too.

Spoilt for choice here, but I would say with anything and everything that might be a particular favourite, search for them, get them when or where you can and stock up or get a spare deck or two if you are able, just in case something is harder to get in the future.

Wanted a monster truck that I could handle and ended up with:
Antihero 8.4 x 32 x 14.25
Pepper XG
Indy Allen 7/8 hardware
Indy hollow 149
F4 99 Radial Full 54mm
Swiss 6

And with stuff I had laying around wanted to put a board for street missions (Not that the other setup can't handle it bit you get the idea)
Toy Machine 8.25 x 32 x 14.25
Pepper
Diamond Allen 1" hardware
Lurpiv hollow 150
F4 93 Classics 53mm
Swiss 6
933

Pretty stoked and loved how the grip job came out.

Wanted a monster truck that I could handle and ended up with:
Antihero 8.4 x 32 x 14.25
Pepper XG
Indy Allen 7/8 hardware
Indy hollow 149
F4 99 Radial Full 54mm
Swiss 6

And with stuff I had laying around wanted to put a board for street missions (Not that the other setup can't handle it bit you get the idea)
Toy Machine 8.25 x 32 x 14.25
Pepper
Diamond Allen 1" hardware
Lurpiv hollow 150
F4 93 Classics 53mm
Swiss 6
933

Pretty stoked and loves how the grip job came out.
You should be! Nicely gripped! I’m always tempted to try a TM deck but all the mixed reviews on here got me scared.

@pops I really like them, my only grip is that some days I love the brutalist look and other days I hate them. They don't have that much grind clearance but how the turning and pretty much no existent wheelbite compensates that.
Quite light too, even the standard ones.
@Top-Heavy Hookjaw shape is really nice, wood quality is kinda shitty. Totally worth it to try if you find them for a decent price.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.
