This is my second smaller length 8.5 in a row and I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t really skate boards that have a wheelbase smaller than 14.38 and a length under 32” always feels like my legs don’t have enough room to spread out. Wish dlx would make a steady supply of team boards on the 8.5 shape that has the 14.38 wb and 32.1 length. That one is perfect to me.
If you check the Summer drops, each brand currently has at least one of the longer 8.5 shape out, which seems like it is around a bit more right now but as you said, there always seem to be a lot of the smaller 8.5 board, with over twice as many in each of the Summer drops from Real, Krooked and Antihero, as well as their regulars on the Real ovals, Krooked eyes and Antihero blue eagle.
Currently there is the Real Huf Cathedral board (and an 8.38 in the same graphic), Krooked Wilson Link and an Antihero Doobie Catch of the Day board if you did want to try to track down a few of them.
Hope that helps.
Oh nice yes thank you that does help any of those boards would be great they all have the same specs. But yeah I’m assuming the smaller 8.5 does better numbers sales wise for them to consistently keep that in rotation. I’ve noticed almost all of Patrick pramens boards that have come out have all been in the longer 8.5 shape that I like. Hell if dlx made the price point decks on that shape I’d still buy em as well
Re DLX price points - was talking about them the other day with someone. Funny that they seem like they have stopped doing them all together now. There are still some here in AU, but they seem like they might have cheapened the brand or just had a bad rep as they did seem to break fairly easily, so I would never recommend them to anyone other than light weight skaters, beginners, or anyone who never ever breaks boards.
We also have the OZ Eagles, which is a special version of the normal eagle on that nice 8.5 shape too.
Spoilt for choice here, but I would say with anything and everything that might be a particular favourite, search for them, get them when or where you can and stock up or get a spare deck or two if you are able, just in case something is harder to get in the future.
