Agree with Shane, Cephas has zero chance of switch smith grinding the Flinders St rail. Whether it’s the og middle pillar one or the newer bigger one. It’s the main entrance to Melbourne busiest train station, so you can only really skate it at like 3am, it’s steep and lands into a diagonal hill.

also i was laughing out loud in the car when shane was giving cephas shit for skipping most of the primitive define vid, i love how he made it more of a conversation with them instead of the guest just answering question after question

Shane asking them "what do you think" after every question was wholesome.

Great episode. I like that it was more of a two way chat than a one sided interview and Shane kept them on their toes. Shane's gotta come back home for a while though that weird hybrid accent bugs me out.

I like Shane. I've always thought he came off as being more self-aware than a lot of his contemporaries, and this episode affirms that. Even the topics that lingered a little while (illegal tricks, full length vids) felt like conversations you'd have with your skate nerd friends. Really enjoyed this.

I was dying at the gold rail conversation. "What were you thinking?"

I think this interview with Shane humanized him a bit and put a reality on what it's like to own a company. I agree with him that putting out a full length might not be the best move nowadays. I know the Bunt Boys mean well when they say that should be the tradition of board companies but I really don't think they are the type of skaters buying April boards anyways.

I didn't listen to the whole episode but did listen to this in full. They've both got good points to make. I get how Shane would want Dashawn to make a standalone no-filler milestone part.

I was thinking about this earlier - there are nine April team members and if everyone had 2-3 minutes of footage (I think that still constitutes a full part) a video just focused on footage could fall roughly within the optimal 21-minute timespan they talked about. And if each part was just the best of the best footage, it could be a modern full-length video that hits really hard as well. But I understand that you don't really want a constrain a video part just by time too much.

Anybody know what were the certain reasons were that he had to have the video come out and settled on that ender?

Rumoured to be something with Nike and possibly something to do with his contract expiring

Jamie Foy has done this after non Enders several times and in comps and people don't seem to mind.

Shane is a boss. Enjoyed the episode thoroughly and feel we got a better insight into him than on the 9 Club interview. Hope he is indicating that he has more footage coming in 2024 as it seems he wasn't really ready to release Shane Goes 2.

Also, given how big a fan he is of Koston, I wonder if he'd ever want to get him on April. Maybe Guy & Eric would be OTT but could be pretty cool..!

Because he didn’t get the switch flip down the 20 stair. He explains it if you watch it and he explains why he does the circus tricks.

One of the best ones in awhile.  It's not very often you here from skaters of his stature be so aware and honest.  He raises alot of good points about videos and his brand.  He dishes it out pretty well too, we see a robot, but forget he's Australian....

No he was saying there were other external reasons the filming had to be cut short and he couldn’t finish it with that trick.  I’m curious too.

Just chiming in to say i also appreciated hearing this side of Shane, a skater who i have followed forever but didn't know anything about personally -- i found it refreshing that he has strong opinions and values but had no problem with recognizing his mistakes or when someone else's different opinion made sense. Feel like it's so rare (in skating and otherwise) for someone to actually be thoughtful and not just blasting their own self-righteousness

One of the best interviews in a while. Loved to hear him dish it back on the tic tac ender. “That trick is fucking hard” was such a refreshing response.

On the side: does anyone have a link to his “Levels” part? That was my fave of his but now it’s gone. Would love to rewatch even without the music.
