I hope they roll out forged versions—you’d think that they’d probably add a hollow or lightweight option later on with the extra meat on the new baseplate.

so if i am understanding this correctly
this will bring the trucks closer together in the middle, and push them further away from the nose and tail?

Exactly.

I'm guessing it'll be a while before these make it over the pond, if they do at all. But if they do I'll definitely get pair despite being completely happy with how regular Ventures work.

Me either, pushing out a sub 14.25" WB is what I like them for; I don't want to start messing with fingers of flat distances

It might give Ace people something "cool" to ride that doesn't turn 360 degrees when they land a slappy crook in a middle school parking lot

My local ordered me the V8 5.2s. I guess they'll be here this week. I'm not sure if he got them through a distributor or direct from DLX but all they had were 5.2 and 5.6. He said 5.8 was back ordered and didn't see an option for 6.1. Either way, I'm just glad to have the baseplates to throw on different hangers (for now).

It's been years since I've been on Aces, but I've got two decks that are identical and one is on my normal Indy cast hollows/53 Classic and the other on redrilled (with the V8 pattern) Ventures. I thought the Venture setup would be a lot easier to pop with a recovering foot injury, but it actually doesn't feel that way. It's snappy, but feels fairly muted. Actually think I like normal Ventures more so far. 8.38x14.38 deck.

Finally got to try the V8s for a bit this evening after a week of rain.  I had a 8.5 GX from a few months back that I only skated once because I couldn't take the 14.5 wb and 6.5 tail.  I put the V8s on there, normal position in the front and in the outer holes of the baseplate for the back truck to shrink the wheelbase and extend the tail - deck felt great skating it.  Like others have said, it's more like extending the fingers of flat, but it still felt good.  The bushings felt a little softer than normal Venture bushings, but everything else was classic Venture.

This is how I have been using my homemade 8 hole plates, lengthen the tail a bit and shorten the wheelbase. I used to have to look for decks with longer tails, but now can use 6.5 tails and make them feel longer.
Also, mine are the forged version and they are holding up fine. I hope venture makes these available soon

Maybe this is the answer for people who like PS boards but hate the short tail.

DLX tails can be short too- 6.5 for the 8.25 and 8.38, but not many brands are 6.75, which would be what moving the truck in would do. 6.5-6.625 seems pretty average with PS and Crail dropping below 6.5 sometimes. I never have an issue with 6.5 and Indy's, but with normal Venture it can feel hefty so these are giving me some ideas.

6.5 tails especially feel hefty paired with the 14.5 wb.  That combo just does not agree with me

I don't mind it on Indy or Thunder but Venture even the normal 8.25 tail feels heinous

the sky blue bushings look goood
odd since i associate that color with thunder

but ill hold out for the forged version
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

According to a shop owner I spoke to that rides Venture and spoke to DLX last week there are no plans for a forged version.

Got a set of the adjustable wheelbase Ventures and skated them today on the shorter wheelbase.

The pop feels great - I’m more of an Ace/Indy guy.

Even on the shorter wheelbase setting you still get that nice baseplate slide on nose/tailslides.

Maybe I’m forgetting what Ventures are like (I haven’t skated Venture highs in a few years) but the grind is way better than I remember.

I like them.
