A V8 promo with Koston popped up on my feed yesterday. Funny enough, he wasn’t even skating the V8s. Looks like forged hollows (standard hole pattern). Am I the only nerd that screen shots setups?

You are def not, hahah

Dumb question but I assumed Zared rode for Venture, but I thought I saw him on Aces….googled around and there is a Zered Bassett who is a NASCAR driver, he rides for Ryder trucks and is in the Craftsman truck series….oookkkee

pretty sure tensor actually. is that still a thing?

not that i doubt you @BeachChicken, but who are these venture guys that have switched back to indy?
koston has a history of trying different things, as soon as his indy lows came out he was riding thunders, etc. that particular screenshot is hard to see, i cannot tell if it’s a re-drilled forged plate or not.
i’m a big fan of screen shotting setups….i am a super setup creep and cannot hear enough about who rides what and why. i’ll watch a mickey papa allisports setup video. i would watch cody mac chew a telephone pole down to a matchstick whilst discussing his setup changes from that one tampa am till now. i’ve attempted to start more than one ‘what the pros are riding’ thread. i’m not sure why i find it so interesting. i listened to the whole bobby puleo loses a wheel saga at the beginning of his 9club, desperately waiting to hear if he rides 5.0 lo’s, and what size deck he’s about. ive mostly stopped clicking on professor schmidt videos. he fries my brain.

screenshot is clear as day a normal 4 hole plate and even in his V8 part if you stop on several frames he's not on V8's. Could be because Edgelord makes him decks with a shorter WB now IDK?

I know there's many people who ride their trucks stock.
But I'm trying to understand how most people bushings get shredded to pieces.
Is it cause they're boards are really loose?
I been riding stockies and i have not shredded or popped any yet. Only thing is that the V8 bushings kinda mushed down lol. The barrel bottom is a tiny bit smaller than the other stockies but honestly, i love them. You can see the inprint on them from the yolk on the hanger. I dig it...almost literally

It used to happen to me a shit ton like instantly with tips but hasn't my last few sets of Venture bushings. I think they changed the top washer to be less cupped.

You know, now that you mentioned the cups, I think mine don't cut cause I indent the washers quickly so the edges of the washers wing out lol

Bushings desire flat washers. I think like in the early 70s most trucks came with a double barrel bushing configuration and with big flat washer on top. It wicked hard to remember but my first hang up to flat was caused by this. My father wasn’t doing more than helping you put your bearings back together so I def had no mods. My first introduction to Indy’s viaa big kid also has two red barrels and an oversized flat washer.

I always assumed that the cupped washer and conical bushings was a design improvement. And even possibly advertised as one before I noticed mags around 85.
Probably to stop hang ups because it does constrict the turning radius

I think it really comes down to how well people break in new bushings, or for some, they don't break them in at all, more so they just break them.

Had a number of people blow out any bushings and at least one session I saw two people put in new bushings, never just had a gentle start and sure enough, they had both taken cuts / chopped the top bushings from their first half a dozen tricks, when they could have had a chill roll around and just eased into the bushings.

The other day I set up some new bushings, just rolled around, lean left and right,  left and right, til they started to feel a little more responsive and bounced back to center the way they should and didn't have any cuts, any chunks or splitting or any issues.  Once past that, they tend to have a pretty long and decent life.

Most bushings tossed in and not broken in will often crumble, come apart, split or get cut up by washers way more easily.

On the new blue V8 bushings, same as the purple Thunder bushings, they are way newer than the majority of other Venture and Thunder bushings, so they might need a little more time to get worn in, compared to the older bushings that have been sitting around in trucks for a fair while in distribution warehouses or shops.  Not that it should have much of an effect, but they are way softer between fingers, yet once broken in they skate just as well as any other Venture or Thunder bushings, on the sets I have set up.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

brimmer correct

not always, and possibly victim blaming here,
but i’d often see folks crank their bushings first day, and the. the bushings would break, and then they’d be bummed.
same with old wheels. walk straight out of the shop to hill bomb flat spot

I barely tightened my venture stock bushings passed stock (almost one thread showing) and the rear boardside barrel cracked and chunked after a couple park sessions. /:
I didn't touch the bushings on ace recently either (they were sold on ebay by someone who never set them up, but who knows, maybe they messed with them?) and they had one thread showing. They broke in after a couple lame flatground sessions, no chunks or cracks.
Guess it just depends.

This is relatable and I hate it. I'm honestly trying to not care so much. Doesn't matter what I'm riding. I think I'll (we'll) never be happy unless I stop allowing myself to buy stuff I don't need. Maybe Ben Degros was right lol. Damn you ebay sellers and consumerism. I say this as someone who also felt like the last two truck changes in the last two months literally changed how I felt on my skateboard for the better, both times. /shrug

What’s the label say on the bottom. What’s tone of purple?

To be honest I threw that ace top bushing away first second I saw it. The slappys i was blessed with bushings prolapsed immediately.

Stuff happens. But I’d bet you got the end of the ermico supply. Mexico bushings are the beez my man. I got the proof

The stickers on the bottom are effed but I see a "2021" on one of them. The bushings are a deep purple that look kind of half translucent.

A lot (Mostly all) of the boards I've seen in person with Venture's tend to groove down the middle. I've never really seen this with other trucks. Does anyone know why this happens only with Ventures?

Hi, I'm taking the liberty of bothering you with a little question. So far, I've been riding an 8.125 14WB with AF1 44s, Aces hard bushings, and a 56mm Radial Full. It's pretty nice, but not very comfortable for my 46-year-old self.

So I got myself an OG Mellow Baker in 8.47 14.25WB, and now comes the truck choice.

I have Thunder 151s and Inde 159s, but I was wondering if trying a Venture 161 or V8 5.8 could make this setup more responsive by requiring less effort, despite its height, but more stable than a Thunder, if I remember correctly.

I'll probably also upgrade to 52-54mm, but I'm still hesitating about the shape.

I'm not sure if that makes sense, but thank you.  ;D This would save me from piling up the material...

IMO Thunders are the perfect match for 14.25 wb, and you already have them.

Okay thanks  :) , I was rather afraid that the Thunder's turn would be too sharp and less smooth than Venture.

Well it's a matter of taste like most things but at least give it a try. For trucks a little wider than the deck I would recommend the Spitfire Classic shape in wheels.

og baker 8.47 (b16) is a sick one and i want to get another.
imo those baker boards really work well with indy’s.
that particular shape tapers down over the back bolts. i rode that board shape with a lot of different trucks: 147 thunders, 149 indy’s, 159 indy’s. the 159s were real ride in the back, but that’s not so bad.
from what you have, the ventures might line up the best.

That shape is grossss- Ben even called out how pointy it is due to the width and kicks. Most people I know ride it in Indy 149 standards which Reynolds designed it on.

that shape is not gross, max disagree

totally agree with the indy standard 149s seeming like the truck for that board.
