Watches
« on: April 23, 2020, 11:05:39 AM »
Anybody who wears watches or is into the hobby?

Doesn’t matter if you wear a simple casio or a patek.
Anybody who is into it?

Anybody who follows watch channels on youtube like the slender wrist, theurbangentry, time teller...?

Whats on your wrist?

I own a seiko 5 SNXS79K automatic that i wear a lot as my go to watch,

a Timex  waterbury field watch that i‘d consider a beater and wear for sports, hiking, when i repair stuff...

.an bauhaus inspired junkers,

 junghans max bill,

an old russian Poljot sputnik that i like because of the dial,

a nomos metro 38 that i bought to use it more as a dresswatch but i find myself wearing it a lot,

two casios for work or swimming...

maybe gonna buy a vintage air king within the next few weeks. Had it on my wrist today and loved it.

I wish I could wear watches but anything on my wrist feels odd, same with rings on my fingers.
Shame cos' every time I'm in a jewelers I end up admiring the G Shocks and think about how collectible they are.

Yeah, never got into the gshocks,  my dad owns the first model (DW-5000C) this thing goes for 1,5k on ebay nowadays. But if you’ve never worn watches just give it a go. it might feel odd on your wrist for half a day, soon you will feel naked without one.

Great model, do you actually use the calculator or is it more of a gimmick?

I have a casio a168w for skating and stuff, got some scratches and scuffs but really love it. When I'm not skating I have a Seiko skx007 modded with double dome ar sapphire crystal, a ceramic bezel insert and coin edge bezel. Used to have a hamilton khaki field mechanical (the old one with the date window) but got rid of it... which I mildly regret doing.

did you mod the seiko yourself? I was looking into some
Hamilton field watches as well as Similar models from sinn. Did you leave it on the NATO the whole time? I change straps a lot and was curious if it would look good on a leather or steel bracelet.

Nah definitely too much of a pussy to do it myself. I had the hamilton on a nato most of the time, it would be good on leather too though the lug lengths are a bit long so its best on a nato. The bead blasted finish definitley means a bracelet would be weird on it.

100% gimmick.

Catch people checking it out all the time though, haha.

I bought this 39mm Maratac as my first "grown man" watch after not wearing one my whole life. I love looking down at it. Would someday like to upgrade/add something even nicer to go with it.

I’ve had like 4 of these.

One time I was on a beach hike with my homies.

We linked up later on with one of my friends’ girlfriend and a couple she was hanging out with on the same beach

I said what’s up to the couple and the girl of the couple asked Some questions about my calculator watch. Later on my friend was giving me shit about my watch pulling this chick in front of her dude lol.

it’s a Conversation starter for sure.  Heard plenty of “so, you do math on that?”. So yeah. This watch is pretty sick.

nothing's been the since same

pic of Seiko skx007? Got me interested in a birthday splurge coming up. Seems like a great pricepoint value. Where do you recommend picking one up?

All the seiko automatics have great value for money...
They run a lifetime without any problems. most models have a Great design and are in the same price range like a fashion watch.
I can only recommend everyone to buy one.

I have 3 Omegas. For some reason, my family have a thing for Omegas as 21st birthday presents.

The one I never take off is the one I got for mine. Its a discontinued slimmer version of a steel Speedmaster with a black dial.

The other two are the one my grandfather got for his 21st. And the one I bought for my eldest sons 21st in Hong Kong, just before he was born.

i haven't worn a watch in more than a decade. but there are some nice watches i have to admit. i like how they look, but never got accustomed to the feeling of wearing one.

waiting for g.i.s.m. to enter the thread i think he is a big time watch collector.
