Nice IWC! Is it 36mm?
If you go back to page 42 (or any page of this thread really), you can see my tudor sub which is basically the main piece in my collection, here I’ll save you some time (pun) :

I bought a smart watch on Black Friday, after years of just relying on my phone. I mainly got it to wake up early by having my wrist vibrate with my alarm.

But the thing is that it feels very restrictive, as watches have always felt to me. I like my appendages to be naked as a jaybird, unfettered by social constructs like timekeeping.

Anyways, I'm constantly taking it of absent-mindedly when I am out and about -- in the car, at work, at the movies, in the mall, eating at restaurants. Then I only realize I took it of like hours later when I look down at my bare wrist and, if I don't find it in my pocket immediately, I have a panic attack that I left a $300 piece of machinery in a Nordstorm Rack dressing room or on the table at a Bushfire Grill.

So far, I have found it either in the center console of my car or it turns out I never even put it on before leaving the house and it is still on the charger at home.

One time, I realized I didn't have it on, skipped going to the next errand I was set to do with my gf, drove us straight home, freaking out, rushed up to our bedroom and didn't see it on the charger.

"That's it! I lost the damn thing! It's over! $300 down the drain!" I yelled down to my gf. Then I saw it had just fallen to the floor between the bed and the nightstand so I picked it up. "Nevermind, I've got it," I said as a follow-up, "Phew. That was lucky."

But it causes me a lot of anxiety nonetheless and Idk how you pals walking around out there with $3K worth of watch do it.

For me, it’s kind of how I treat sunglasses. I used to just buy cheapo <$15 sunglasses and would always take them off, lay them down, and forget about them. I broke and lost SOOOOOO many in the past.

But when I buckled down and bought a good pair (SALT brand rX sunglasses), just based on it being pricier, I found myself taking care of them and being cognizant of where I put them down more. Have had that pair for like 4 years now and the only thing wrong with them are some light lens scratches which won’t matter anymore as I’m gonna get the rX on them updated.

Long story short, like you, sometimes I do take my watch off at work when typing, but I always make sure I put them in a particular place and make sure to put it back on when I leave my desk. And at home, when not on my wrist, I put it back into my watch roll.

Nice!

The IWC pilot 36 mm is on my "nice watch" purchase list top spot, but torn by the fact that there are so many other pilot watches offering better value. Still the IWC looks just right in my eyes.

Well maybe someday when I hit the big leagues and become a dad. Until then it's Garmin on my wrist.

Thanks man! It's a 38mm Mark XV, my personal favourite out of the Mark series.

I love Tudor Submariners! Great choice man. I've owned three different Snowflake Submariners in the past, put they just never really stuck as I love vintage but don't tend to wear them much. Also the pricing on the Snowflakes was getting a bit crazy. Yours looks so good I'm reconsidering saving up for a 90's Tudor sub though..

Thanks! This is a 38mm, but their 36mm Pilot wears so well too. I think it's a great watch to aspire to when you become a dad. IWC just gets their dimensions perfect I think .

@Nom De Plume definitely try on some Tudor subs if you can — the 36 wears “bigger” than other 36 mm models imho for to the bezel jutted out an extra mm or so…

And yes, everything about the hardies collab is vomit inducing

Word up, definitely gotta get one in hand before making any moves. it's funny, turns out I have what would be considered bad wrists by the watch community so sizing can be tricky. Small at 6.75", round, hairy, and with a big bone. Definitely like a smaller watch by modern standards. Do you swim in yours?

And GRIMP, you really did it to me with this thread man. i always liked watches but pushed dick foot uphill into the watch game in 2020. Have sold off my collection twice, taking my time figuring out what I like and my tastes have changed. Mostly got middlin' Seiko Prospex and Hamiltons at the moment. Some Casios too. Next move will likely be a jump up to the next tier. This is a disease.

I'm not an expert but unless there are bigger sizes than 41 mm, it looks way too big to be a Royal oak. I could be totally wrong tho

Hahahaha sorry about that! Funny thing is I recently sold 3 or 4 watches in my collection to consolidate it a bit, I still have the tudor though. I think the 36 would fit you well, but best to try on in the flesh. I don't swim in mine; it was serviced when I bought but the papers didn't indicate water pressure test so I'm weary. I had a bond seamaster that was serviced by omega and tested to 300m so for that one I would have no qualms (I have since flipped it though).
It really is a sickness isn't it? I'm down to 3 watches (CWC W10, Pre-tag Heuer 1000 Monnin case and the Tudor 36mm sub) though at the moment and it's almost better in many ways...

^^^^Yuto on GS would be wild!

Cool he's on Casio, G-Shock and skating go together like peas and carrots. He flashing the GWM5610? I got that watch and love it. Good dimensions for those of us with dainty wrists.

SOTY with the G Shock too. Thought it was a Casi-Oak at first but then saw this angle, was giving him too much credit. Joslin and Yuto teammates on Casio would be rad.

"I could see him on G-Shock."

SOTY with the g-shock is better than that Nixon he was wearing!
and yes, Yuto on GS would be wild, but I have a pretty good hunch he owns a sub so I personally I feel it would have been a better fit than Seiko 5 (and his signature GMT). Seiko snoozed on him...

in reality? it will just take some time for your eyes to adjust -- imho it's fine to have one quirky watch in your collection that doesn't fit your usual size criteria and you know what? 99.9% of the population won't even bat an eyelid so if you want one go for it!

Oris skate team would be sick.
I agree! I wonder if they want any over the hill curb dogs on their team?

Question for my wristwatch gurus. Are there any online shops in the USA that carry CWC? I really want to get my hands on a G10, but the import fees from the UK are insane. Thanks in advance!

Nice choice of watch, I see you are a man of style!
I don't live in the US, but looking at watch forums it seems that they have no stockists...
https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/where-to-buy-cwc-in-the-us.3712938/

Having said that, if it's a g10 it should be under tariff/ import tax price no? Also, do you need your CWC to be brand new? I think those watches really shine (or actually the exact opposite of shine) when they're well worn with lots of patina. They are tough as nails so even on the second hand market, it's hard to fund a dud, at least in my opinion. Happy hunting!

No, I for sure don't need it to be brand new. I'm just trying to avoid ordering international because no one seems to know for sure if there are import tarrifs and if there are, what that price will be. and would actually prefer to order used since its cheaper and I plan on wearing this watch for everyday use.

I'm mostly interested in a quartz military field watch. So I'm interested for a Hamilton Khaki field quartz (38mm) or a quartz CWC G10. But the G10 is proving to be a lot harder to find on the grey market.

Perhaps you could contact https://www.silvermans.co.uk/collections/watches/cwc?srsltid=AfmBOooWdBujWRmG9emvTrwSBKhm4gkfCntE-yv4povaskqTX2YmxwQQ directly and ask what they did for other customers in the US?
If you’re tossing up between Hamilton and CWC, personally I would go with the CWC; it is the definitive field watch!
Again, look at eBay for local/ 2nd hand pieces. I really enjoyed my fatboy version when I had it, these days I only have the w10 …

Thanks,  I have my eye on a g10 located in the USA on EBay now. I got a few more days until auction wraps. Meanwhile, I caved and grabbed a Khaki field for a steal on Jomashop. Was on sale for $320, free shipping, plus an additional $20 off. $334 out the door.

Nice grab! I got one a few years ago on Jomashop for the exact same price. Which one ya get?

Got the PVD black on black dial one. Struggled with the long lug gap with normal straps since I got hairy ass wrists and thought a NATO's metal loops made the footprint look too big. On a black perlon now and love it, super low profile.
