Looking forward to seeing the AP Swatch release even if it's just a pocketwatch on a lanyard, but the hype right now is absurd. Resellers started camping out for it yesterday in New York and they haven't even done a reveal yet  ::)

The AP x Swatches are pretty dope. I like how some are rotated 90 degrees.

Yupp the savonette models with the subsecond dial, looking forward to putting the blue one on a silicone strap. I'd try and get both if swatch didn't have a have a strict 'one item per person per day' policy

this brand is already on it with some nice strap prototypes:

I recently got a 37 mm Club Sport neomatik in petrol from Nomos. They somehow got a mechanical watch that can go 200m underwater into a case that's just over 8 mm. The  other watch I wear is a Tudor Ranger and it looks like a brick by comparison. It's immediately obvious with Nomos that the price point could be a lot higher, but I imagine they aren't budgeting nearly as much for marketing and the general public isn't buying based off branding.

you sir, have great taste, Nomos is way underrated. It must wear pretty big at 37mm though no?

The thing that people online don't understand is that the lugs are curved so they sort of wrap around your wrist. I have a skinny wrist and the watch fits like it's supposed to.
fair enough, I just remember trying on a nomos and even at 34mm it wore quite large … share some pics when you’ve got a chance!

@TastyBurrito id be so down for one of these, alas I can’t rock a 40mm diver anymore …

The other watch is a 39mm Tudor Ranger which is 12mm thick.

If you tried a 34mm of the same watch and it didn’t fit, you might want to get the latest release of the Club Campus because they shortened the lugs.

Went ahead and got myself an automatic khaki. Took the bracelet off, and put on a nato. Really love it. Classic look with a lil shine.

honestly not surprised (and one of the main reasons why I live here) but seriously, how dumb is society at this point, in 3 months time you’ll literally be able to waltz into any swatch shop on the planet and pick up one of these at retail. Dudes are flipping them for $3500 atm!!!

The only other place that looked like the drop wasn’t insanity was Ala Moana in Hawaii.

But yea, fools banking too much on scarcity trying to sell these things 10x over retail.

I’m still so shocked there’s a market for this. I was surprised how high retail was for a plastic AP Swatch, but the idea someone is so impatient they’d pay up to 10x’s retail to have it a month early boggles my mind. These aren’t limited, so I’m sure Swatch will make as many as possible.

The moonswatchs were the same, like people were pay 4x retail all over the shop, now you can buy them online from Swatch at retail.

I know. To each their own, but these look really bad to me. I’d way rather get a Chinese super clone Royal Oak for the same price. The older I get, the more I appreciate Casio.

I don't wear watches since the days of pagers or any other device that already has a clock on it. But I got these:

Seiko that looks similar to the OPs but I've had it since I was a kid, 6309-602A.
Rolex is probably a fake. My uncle gave it to me.

If I was going to wear a watch, I'd probably dig out my old Watch Robot:

Curious to hear if you can share any tells about it.
I don't really care about the watch other than it was a gift and if I ever really wanted to wear a watch, I'd just use the trusty Seiko but would be fun to learn anything.

Got to the store a few minutes before it opened yesterday and managed to snag a decent colorway, but i'm still after the blue subsecond variant to wear on a silicone strap as a summer beater. Really hoping they're working on an official strap for these things though, the unofficial prototypes are looking rough.

This thing is rad. What are the arm to arm and head to keister specs?

Just sold the Hamilton Aviation Pilot Pioneer and Seiko SPB239. Made a profit on both even after eBay fees. Stoked on my G-shocks lately.

When I was in middle school, I got an Independent Trucks watch from CCS. This was some point in the mid-90's when skaters were still really gnarly. Some dudes called me a poser and broke into my locker to steal it. I re-purchased it and learned how to heelflip down the school entrance steps and 50-50'd the bike rack in front of them, then they left me alone, haha.

let me preface this by saying that I am in no way and expert on vintage rolex (let alone spotting fakes), but the first thing that stands out is the bracelet because the lug ends don't match flush with the case shape... could be a aftermarket/ generic bracelet though? Guess you'd also have to do some research on dial layouts be the space between T swiss made T looks really spaced out, that might be just how day dates were configured though.

Looking to get a wristwatch again and thought itd be nice to pick up where I left off and get a vintage Seiko 5 Automatic again. The ones with the day written out and date. My last one broke like 5 years ago and I got that for 30 bucks at a flea market. Turns out these things are trendy now and I can't find a decent one under 200 bucks and those aren't anywhere near me. Any tips for similar old brands/models that aren't quite so overpriced?

You can still find good automatic Seikos with day/date for around $100, here are some quick ebay pulls:

As far as other brands in this price bracket, vintage Citizen (made in Japan) is excellent or pretty much anything Swiss (17 jewels or better) – they mostly used the same generic movements across all brands up until the late 70s

^ for the price, this Glycine is the one imo, just needs a good steel bracelet

Thanks for the pointers! I'm in Europe and would ideally like to have a look at the watch before I buy a piece of junk over mail but sadly I live in one of the Hipster capitols and everything trendy is overprized. Gonna look into Glycine now!
