@Unkle Fleak , f’n sweet score on the DB’d LP.

If was in the NE instead of the DMV, I’d throw ya some work. I have a Peavey T-60 neck I want to throw on a partscaster. It has some old Duncan humbucker (from a 80s Kramer Slammer, anyone know what they had?) in the bridge, want to buy a Rickenbacker neck pup (hi-gain or humbucker, no toaster) and carve it into the neck position, then put some thin goldfoil in the middle position.

I recently got a Rickenbacker for the first time in 8 or 9 years and I’ll never part again. Partially because this one is the same age as me! A lot of my constituents/critics say they don’t even sound like “real” guitars, but they are the de facto guitar sound I hear in my head. Throw one in drop C, if you have the time/inclination.

Seeing all this Jazzmaster talk reminds me I also have my aunt’s wrecked and half-decapitated 1966 Jazzmaster I’ve been waiting to get to my local luthier when he has some time for a low and slow resto. It’s like the third or fourth one made in ‘66 according to the serial and has special livery. She got it in ‘79 from the collection of a Tucson guitar shop owner according to my late uncle. To all y’all pondering one, don’t hesitate on those newer models they’re terrific (Squiers too!) & goodness gracious that blue color is gorgeous.

Sorry for the long post lol, I’d rather cut it up about guitar shit here on SLAP than anywhere else online.  :-X

Wow!

Yeah I’m stoked on the lp. 6 bills cuz someone pulled the Gibson pickup out. Wiring is intact. CTS pots mall caps. Looks 50s style. Even has the og flat edge pick guard.

The bb 2 is probably still in the neck. I’ll check at string change and set up. This was just a harvest. It wasn’t Ever set up before. Maybe Guitar center rip the pick up out for a customer and just threw the Dunkin in knocked $400 off the price. All the new ones I have on the wall have the Gibson Open book style now and go for 1400 or something.

staying at my partner's parents house right now and get to play another sweet japanese guitar. we've got what i'm guessing is a 70s Hohner dreadnought HG 300 MIJ. It's lovely handmade guitar designed as a copy of the Martin d-28. Really sweet and easy to play. big sound. looking forward to putting some new string on it this week to see what we get

Hell yeah

I been thinking about naming my guitars. Any Pals do that?

Cus I was thinking the white jr would be named Gwen and cuz of that scene in white in underneath it all. My new lp is Saul Slimebag Perry
My black top standard is David Johansson jr. and my strat is Rocky Denison.

It’s a waste of time to name basses

Certain MIJ acoustic guitars of a vintage era (mainly 70’s) that were an emulation of Martin’s are incredible instruments. I believe recently they’ve spiked a little in resale prices as the cat is kind of out of the bag.

Much better than many of the electrics that were coming out of Japan through the 60’s and early 70’s.

It sounds funny to say this, but when Japanese manufacturers started copying American designs is when they started hitting a stride in production quality. Hence the “lawsuit” guitars by the likes of Ibanez, etc.

I like this best. The vintage cut pick guard is cool but this too needs air so it doesn’t spontaneously combust

It’s a shame I’m terrible at guitar and that it’s mostly wasted in my possession  ;D.

Bass is my obsession, and I’m competent at keys.

I have another fiesta red 60th anniversary Jazzmaster as well.

At some point I’ll get more pictures going for the thread.

@Uh Oh

I absolutely love Nordstrand pickups for both guitar and bass. I’ve had great success modding a monoprice strat with a full Nordstrand pickup set and harness.

Years ago I picked up a prototype set of Nordstrand bass pickups that had staggered pole piece's that were so piano-esque and clear, that I had Carey build me a couple custom sets to the same specs.

So I swear by Nordstrand, and they’re my go to. I can’t reccomend them enough.

Speaking of Toronados, if I had more $$$ I’d be seriously considering one of these limited edition MIJ Cyclones. Honestly, the exchange rate is so good now I’m tempted to throw caution to the wind:

I need one of these. After I get a really powerful power amp. I’m going with a 200w quilter and I’m just going to run a few pedals on the floor.

Maybe I’ll get the orange pedal baby.

I got this Washburn for a hundred bucks, they usually go for a little more, but not much. The Martin Backpacker is slightly pricier but sounds really good and has a cool compact body.

Impulse bought a new guitar yesterday

It's a Reverend baritone guitar. I dunno how much reach this brand has outside of the midwest, but they make some great stuff. I stumbled upon it at my local music shop and immedietely fell in love. I traded in a Danelectro bari + a random beater in my closet that I straight up forgot I still had, and ended up walking away with a killer price. Stoked.

Reverend are underrated instruments. For a very short period of time I had a mint second hand Reverend dub king bass that I bought super cheap. I wish I still had that thing.

I fucked up in my description of the dimebucker. It’s potted but it responds like it isn’t. I can hear all the pick noise clearly af.  It’s nice.
This thing through the lil fender mustang cube combo. I can do anyone from like Les tones to slash to super high gain noise punk without a pedal too.

So nice.  Highly recommend

hell yeah. I still think I'm gonna get one of those Jazzmasters too. I can't find one at any store which is annoying, but I can find pretty much every other Player 2 model and they feel good. Reckon if it feels as good as those and sounds as good as most other Jazzmasters I've played it shouldn't be too much of a gamble to just order one.

I know one of the secret weapons. They use pickups wound in Boston. I wish I could remember the shop. Mini himbuckers so sweet and clear and it can handle a uriah heap of gain.

I know this is a Guitar thread, but this is like one of the songs that influenced me with my drumming. I love this band. Guitar wise influenced on the single Liar. You know with this guitar tones they play that reversed fifth or whatever that so filthy and staccato kinda like death metal
