Hot hot hot. Those shapes! Was alien ps at this time? Must have been....I was obsessed with width, and paid loose attention to length, but that was about it.

Love those shapes, boomer.

I've been carrying around this Habitat Ray Molinar 7.5" forever. A couple years ago I set it up and skated it a few times. Surprisingly good for a board from 2006 (and considering I wear size 11). PS wood.

That board is so rad looking. Great shape, nose and tail perfect.

I had a rough time landing much on the jovontae reissue, but really fun. 31” even, so just short. I think 7.75 is a little more my speed. Anyways, I’ve totally kept a few boards around just because I liked the shape.

I’m assuming the wb on these is all around 14”? Length 31-31.5”?

Thanks both of you for sharing these pics of older decks

Needed to measure something else so I pulled it from the stack. 7.5" x 31" with a 14" WB.

Pretty similar shape? I remember an interview Raymond did where he talked about an old Girl board being his favorite so I wouldn't be shocked if this was based on that shape.

Pretty similar actually. Makes sense. EVERYONE was hyped on girl shapes then. PS had the game in a chokehold.

No to de-rail this thread any further, but I'm super curious as to what the truth really is behind wheelbase. There definitely are a lot of pros/skaters in general that don't care about wheelbase and don't even know about it. It also seems like however that a lot of them are very particular and definitely have the "madness" and gear awareness. I remember watching some of those old Dew tour videos I think is what they were, where they had pros go over their setups and I remember they often mentioned that the board they skated was made shorter specially for them. Kind of seems like many if not most pros are riding their boards a lot shorter than what the companies are selling. I wonder why that is

Wish someone would shine that Men in Black memory-wipe tampon thing on me so I could forget I ever learned about wheelbases.

It’s like that saying “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing”.  When I was a kid I just skated the fucking thing and everything worked out just fine.  No digital calipers, excel spreadsheets, plumb bobs, electron microscopes, mass spectrometers or protractors needed.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

the mike carroll shape is still one of my favorites. i would skate it if they were still around and pressed by ps. the tapered tail was as incredible as it was a liability.

Yeah, this is then of the only boards I've ever saved. I remember being really hyped on the graphic and shape when it dropped, even though I knew it was too small. Steve Durante has a bunch of clips on the graphic in Inhabitants and I was always hyped on that for some reason. And Ray is a personal favorite.

Looks sick! Love the shapes also. I skated better on these pointy shapes. Square messes me up

I ordered a 7.81 AH green eagle that has a 14" WB with some Ace 22's. I'm 5'10", 10.5 feet, and 210lbs. Can't even remember if I skated something this small ever, but I hope I don't snap this board trying an ollie. I suck at flip tricks and skate transition and curbs, I feel like this board will be challenging but in a good way. I'm excited to try it out! Anyone else ever size down this small after skating 8.3"+ for as long as they can remember?

Dude. I want this exact setup. Some Julien shit right there. No matter what, it’ll be fun as hell to carve around on.
I’m 5’8”, size 10. I skate this size. I don’t see any advantage in my skating, key in my skating, with a larger setup.
What size wheels?

Shalom, brother! Yeah I imagine the carving I'm going to get out of this will be insane. I have some 54mm NFG 95a wheels that I've been sitting on for months that I will use. I thought about getting some 50-52mm wheels but there aren't any choices in that size range for 95a-97a. I can't do harder wheels anymore, I slip out way too easily.

I have the same "specs" as you (except size 10)and I recently skated all different shit, including 7.75. I really enjoyed that size for nostalgia and crisp fliptricks. After watching footage of myself I felt like I looked unnatural and became kinda self conscious..so I sized back up. I miss the heel flips and 360 flips that were way cleaner on sub 8 though.

Kinda the same, in that I’ve had people mention the board looks ‘hella 90’s bro’....but all footage of me looks terrible, so whatever.
From an outside perspective, seeing someone on an 8 looks about right, but a week on a 7.75 and an 8 looks big as hell.
The real psycho shit is the baby trucks....if I’m on 52 and down, looks ok, but bigger wheels on small trucks looks like a mini monster truck.
Whatever I don’t make sense.

I couldn't fight the madness this morning..So I'm back just waiting on bearings and hardware.
7.75 deck, Not AWS..I think a Primitive? Idk the graphic was terrible so I sanded it a while back and never skated it.

Damn that sucks about your knee man, hope it heals up quick for you. Keeping up with kids is harder on the body than skating. I haven't skated a 7.5 in 15 years. I have a couple of 7.6s to go through first, but unfortunately they will get smoked pretty quick due to really wet season in my area (mud season)

Well your fantasy has come true sir. Because that's what it is. 14"wb to boot.
