I have the Ace af1 low 22 since they came out last year
Have not skated 129's since then and I think I have three sets sitting at home

The AF1's 7.75's lows are good and yes they measure 7.75

When ace 33s first came out, I was super hyped on them. Had the white ones, loved em. Since then, I’ve fucking hated almost every ace setup. Rare instances I’ve had a great time on 33s, 44s, and even 55s. Actually I did really like the 55s, but I don’t like boards that big. I swear those have a different geo (they don’t, I’m just an idiot).
Not stoked on the af1s.
Buuuuuuut, the one constant with the setups that worked for me was short wb, and often bigger wheels.
Glad they work for you, I just got tired of trying to get all of the parts lined up for it to work, for me.

Damn ! You make me want to get back on a skinny board !

I've been skating 8.00 for 5 years now, I've skated 8.125, 8.25 before, but that was when I was doing a lot of gap ! Now, I skate a lot a lot of flat , Sometimes park, banks, hip transfer, and very rarely ledge.. I think a 7.875 board, even a few centimeters less than an 8, can help me with this style of skating and for certain tricks.. ! ::) ;D

I'm 5'8", and 8 shoes size.

Many say you can't have control with a small deck, but when I see PJ ladd or Luan riding 7.8.. ahah

Y'alright

Feel like this might have been said on this thread a couple hundred times but I'm thinking of biting the bullet and getting a 7.75. Had a session on my mate's deck which is a very similar set up to mine and it felt very good to skate. Had better control and overall that shit fit like a glove and felt less clumbsy.

Gonna be moving down from an 8", but what's the consensus when it comes to trucks and wheels? My current set up has Film 5.25s (which are equivalent to a 139, except it's 135mm) with 52mm Spitfire OG Classics (non-formula four wide cunts with the green spiral on them)
[close]

I think 129s are usually matched with 7.75, so any truck that’s 7.625.  Does anybody make trucks that are exactly 7.75?
[close]

Difficult question. With 7.75s I usually go 5.0s/129s. Mostly because that’s how it used to be, in my youth. 139s/5.2s/147s (8”) trucks work fine too.
The green eagle, the 7.81 shape, is tricky because I really don’t know which truck to run…great board tho.
I’ve never gotten into the small aces or tensors, but I guess they have the 7.75 axle, never measured them myself.

I used to always try to make sure my trucks was slightly wider than the deck so the wheels can be as flush. Never liked any of the magic carpet look. I used to ride 5.2 with 7.5 and I think on 7.75 looks perfect.
These days I just strictly ride 5.0s and got used to how they look on 775.
Wide trucks don’t mean better lock. Smaller trucks feels better for locking into grinds imo

Hello, fellow rydaz...
Krooked team flowers: 7.75", 31.25", 14" (measures 7.875" wide)
Venture 5.0 low v hollow lights
Spitfire 50mm f4 lil smokies, classic
Quantum metallic bearings
7/8" hollow ace hardware
Jessup

I don't usually ride boards this small, but I thought it would be fun to kick around. I skate a lot of flatground and ledges, so why not?

That setup is really nice. I'm still in knee rehab mode, so I haven't skated it much, but I cruised around on it yesterday and did a couple no complies and manuals. It felt great. Seems to work well with 5.0 lows and 50mm wheels.

On a side note, I think the hollow hardware, hollow venutres, and small wheels make for a very noisy ride. Not a big deal, just kind of interesting.

I didn’t even notice the hollow hardware…yeah makes sense that it’d be louder.

Hope the recovery goes well.

That Krooked shape looks so good, much better than the common dlx shapes, to me. I wonder if it’s because it is smaller, and thus less swoopy with the concave. I need @ok boomer tonweigh in, and id if the shape is similar to the Kelly/light green eagle. I prefer this graphic, I’m kinda eagled out.

Couldn't resist I just ordered one.

I've been getting on good on my Baker OG Mellow 8.125 on Venture 5.2 lows so I've no need for this.

But I need my 5.0 lows on something so why not.

I was skating almost exactly this same setup a few months ago. I dig that board, it's a bit too long for my tastes though.

Anybody find any 7.75 - 8.00 ish sized shaped boards?  I know some shaped boards that are 8.25 can be around 8 or less around the trucks but was wondering if there were smaller options

first two that come to mind are -
mini-beach bum (very small, very fun)
& 5boro has a 8.0" shaped deck that has a 14.25 wb. haven't seen one in person but it catches my eye often enough

Uma has a mini maite shaped board
UMA LANDSLEDS BOARD PREMATURE MAITÉ 8.0 SHAPE is its full description

I thinks its 8x 31.75 x 14wb from memory

Kinda cool looks like a mini skidul to me

Thanks! I’ll be adding those to my list.  The uma looks like it could be the one, trying to find a shaped in that size range to use as my main board for a while.  I was looking at this one too, assuming it was pretty narrow at the back truck https://www.tactics.com/darkroom/cypher-825-skateboard-deck

i've pondered trying the Krooked one out. And the Palace one also. I, too, am eagled out. I had a Traffic 7.625 a while back that was pretty sick. (that may have been a year or so ago). But yeah currently on yet another green eagle, lol.

Currently on the crail 7.75, with 5.0 lo’s, naturally, and yeah, it works pretty well. I like the shape. The shape doesn’t look as nice as that top shot on the Krooked tho.
Most say palace is kinda shit on the boards, but they look cool. Which would be a pleasant change.

Traffic 7.625 is so authentic it hurts me. I’ll go fire up Puleo’s ‘moving in…’ part and weep softly of better days

I really love 7.75, but there’s a huge issue.  One being it’s just hard to find one at a skateshop, but we all know that and the internet exists so not really a big deal.  My main issue is that these boards are super short.  I could be wrong but anyone here remember when these sizes were longer???? I just can’t skate shorter boards for anything other than flat ground.  Street and park suffer unless I’m riding at 14.25 wheelbase.  I swear boards use to be a lot longer in the 7.5-7.75 range.  I want to continue riding these sizes, but I can only find the length I like in 8.0s!!  :( 7.75 doesn’t have to be a mini only.
