It feels like the shoe company for the generation after mine, like I won’t ever wear it, but kids around me younger than me love it and I love that for them.

WTF was that?

Was watching the Tampa AM contest and the Cariuma dudes were all pretty similar.

You are 20-something, okay-ish  skateboarder, got some kind of following on youtube/instagram, but you still had not made it to any existing programs, whether it is shops, boards, shoes, wheels, whatever. But then this company comes in and says hey we want YOU to carry our banner and you go with it to keep that pro-skateboarder dream alive. It kinda bums me out. And I don't just don't see them going from Cariuma to something more "cool". And I don't see it as doing your own thing, because it definitely isn't comparable to something like Scram or some other sick smaller company.

It's the Andy Mac-program of skateboarding.

I have to confess that having only one skate model on two colors it’s really clever; they just made a shitload of them and they haven’t been worried about new models, colorways, new campaigns; but in the business-marketing side I really can’t imagine kids psyched to buy the same generic shoe with awful logo every single time... or they do?
They stepped in the right moment and Olympic-SLS dudes made them look like a solid company even when we know they appeared from under a rock like 2 years ago. I’m just waiting for them to burn all their cash and disappear, we will still be here skating on whatever shoe we can get but definitely not those  ;)

I don't know about pricing but when I was in highschool people would just buy these plain black shoes called humans over and over. Or globe and Etnies had budget team models that were pretty basic. Probably in the last twenty years I've had at least a dozen pairs of black halfcabs, black eras and black old skools. Then probably at least 8 pairs of each in navy.
If the kids relate to the company the logo is no worse than most other skate brands.

Their logo is an elongated less than sign. <<<<

Their inferiority is inherent down to design.

They are a business and they are just as profit driven as anybody else. These dudes are out here fucking paying skaters, allowing them to skate and put out footy and you actually have a gripe with that?  Yeah they sponsor influencers or whatever, but that is a necessary evil in the current climate of marketing.

I saw some kid on reddit say that skate videos are dead tik tok and insta are it, and the views speak for themselves. I don't watch 15s vids of skating cause I'm a full parts and rough cuts kinda guy, but the views are pretty nuts. Saw this kid bag a mil on a tre he didnt even land (but came close as fuck) as evidence of tik tok being it rn.

Point being if you actually hate cariuma for getting involved in skating and bringing attention to more guys who have potential (not saying they're all good) you are, in my eyes, a selfish fuck who's holding on too hard to he past.

Light me up fuckers.

Lol really?

Anyone who thinks releasing such an ugly ass shoe with the worst logo in the history of skate shoes must be born from pre cum!

And if you think their marketing strategy is acceptable (lacks class) then you’re also stupid.

They stole the whole buy a shoe plant a tree concept from Etnies who started that shit back in 2011!

Anything linked with Berra and Scientology - say no more 🙄🤦🏽‍♂️

Get a life - fuck Cariuma and anyone who reps them!

Fuck outta here. IG and Tik Tok are engineered for virality. It's being pushed out to everyone, mostly people that don't skate. The avg person can watch skating in short digestible bits but they're not gonna sit through 4 mins of skateboarding. You scroll on tik tok you see some skating, you see some lil dance challenge, you see a fucking person trimming hedges in a "satisfying" way. Just cause a kid got some views for almost landing a tre flip don't mean we lower the bar to that level.

The average time it takes kids to skip a song on Spotify is like 8 seconds-- does that mean musicians aughtta to make 8 seconds songs then?

If you think a brand that pays people to leave good review videos about their products and but won't sell to shops (basically the arteries of skate culture), you are lost in the sauce.

My honest guess is the industry has caught on to Berra not being able to run a legit program. After the DC thing I doubt any people who care about their future would want to get on a Berra program. So he finds some rando company to buy the grift and starts collecting a team of skatepark heros nobodys heard of, jagger and then the cherry on the market share top, Mike V. Its kinda sad how many people like Mike V just because he punches a bunch of frat kids in the mouth. Outside of skating that’s literally all hes known for. Unfortunately for Berra it will be his last great grift for this industry, heres hoping it ends sooner than later.

Mike V has done a really good job of pretending to be Ian Mackeye while selling out at every possible opportunity.

I like that he’s still pretending that he’s in Black Flag.

Rolling Stone is basically just advertorials now. They did that whole dreadful thing recently with the "Bored Apes" on the cover. It's gonna be really funny when like Rolling Stones and the New Yorker fold, and Thrasher is still going out to 100,000 households.

How much do we believe that Mike V was a fan “on the sidelines” of Cariuma’s shoes before they entered the skate market but “just didn’t think they’d be durable enough to skate in”?

From looking at those photos 8m that article, I guess Mike V doesn't wear his helmet anymore?

I thought I remember him saying that whenever he skates he will wear a helmet.

The logo is a straight up fly swatter glued on the side of the shoe.
I'd rather stick my feet in a pair of stretched out fleshlights
