which clips are you referring to?

i would assume he rides 5.8s since thats what he runs on his regular setup. didnt ask like a man though
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

This clip. I only noticed because I saw he responded to someone asking what size he rides and he said this was a 9. I’m just wondering if 5.8s are wide enough for a 9 bc I just got some v hollow 5.8s finally and have yet to use them.

They work but 6.1s are way better imo. I might have a picture of both to show you the difference. If I do I will post them for you.

i feel like 8.38's get done a dirty like this often, first one that comes to mind is the real team oval decks. the 8.38 has a 14.5wb, but the 8.5 has a 14.2wb. and it's the longest board at 32.25? boggles my mind at least ???

There are two DLX 8.5s. The one with the short wb that you're talking about is 31.8 long. The 32.25 has a longer wheelbase. I agree that their dimensions seem weird sometimes but they make so many different shapes so I guess it all works out.

The 8.5 fits the bill. They have another one in this drop with similar dimensions (Max Taylor mashup)

I usually ride bbs but I've seen some Santa cruz's I like the dims of. Are the kicks steep? I've ridden an Enjoi before (same wood right?) And didn't mind the wood as much as the steep kicks kind of bugged

The normal concave and especially the kicks of Santa Cruz are quite steep compared to the average more mellow BBS board (not counting FA / Hockey and similar) but maybe not something that is too hard to get used to, as lots of people ride and enjoy that wood.

Personal preference has a lot to do with it though and they feel very different when standing on them side by side (Santa Cruz vs Alien Workshop or similar BBS deck).

it could work coz the loveseat board tapers around the truck area.and u could put 2-3washers on the inside hangar to widen the riding surface.if he rides a 9 popsicle, then go with 6.1s.

My local has this Creature deck I'm interested in.  I've never ridden anything over an 8.25 but I'll be 38 in a couple weeks and decided to go with a proper slappy/transition setup instead of my current 8" being my main.  Having issues with uploading pictures but dimensions are 8.8 x 31.46 x 14 with nose 6.89 and tail 6.4 and shaped like an early 90's deck.

Is it the Gardner Ghosts pro model?

The one I’m looking at isn’t a pro model, it’s a power ply or something like that but looks like the same shape.  I looked up that Gardner on a couple sites and it says it’s a twin tail. Any truth to that?

Yeah that’s the one. Not really hyped on the graphic but the shape looks really good. I like 14” wheelbases and sub 31.5 length.

Wide board + short WB skaters truly are the most oppressed minority
[close]

every couple days for the last year or so, i would open my skateshop bookmarks hoping on a new "unicorn", filter by width and wheelbase, and close my phone in disgust in that order.

"you want a small wheelbase? ride an 8, bigfoot!" i can hear these screams in ever waking nightmare.

this thread is for the dozens of us (as the industry sees it) to discuss the dozen of options that are left, experiences with said boards/setups, new developments for the cause, etc. most importantly to put our collective foot down in hopes for wheelbase equality.

(8.5 and up, 14.25 and below)

@Pretty_rad makes any size and shape you want but specializes in 9"+ decks with 14"wb. his boards come with 14" wb unless you want something different.

heroin craig questions video city deck is a 9.3"x 31.3" 14.1" wb, Girl couch and love seat decks.  but the Chem skate Wb tool opens up the option to skate any brands deck

Chems skate WB tool is a must have is you like riding a smaller wb on bigger boards.
i have a wb tool from chems skate which can bring in the wb with .25" increments. so i buy any board i want now and just redrill the truck holes to be 14" wb or 13.9" wb. also allows me to add a little nose to old schools so i can nollie and nose slide.

Since you are using the .25 increment jig have you noticed any structure type issues with the redrilled roll holes being close to the pre drilled? I want the .25 but debating on getting the bigger one idk.

I had it and I would recommend it. Skates more like an 8.25. Too Steep of a tail and nose for my taste but very fin board. I have stage 8, Indy 146s on it.

Yes to being a twin tail, but I guess they would have sold out pretty quickly.

And I agree with you on that graphic.  Might have been one or more of those decks that people have sprayed over in either the setup thread, big boards or here, but I cannot recall.

Stickers or a can of paint are easy fixes for a good shape with a bad graphic.
