This sounds like a really sick shape, but something seems weird about skating a "santa cruz" board being from the opposite side of the country. Anyone else feel this way too?

It was cool that people like Damian Smith, Jake Rupp and Vanik Hacobian rode for them at times and they released some cool footage of them, but I always feel like it was weird that they skated for them in the first place.

Don't forget Alex Carolino, Flo Marfaing and Justin Strubing.

It’s only 8.5 but 8.5 is a great width.

https://socalskateshop.com/Baker-Skateboards-Brand-Logo-Foil-Deck-Red-White-85x32.html#!?cc_decks=102375&c=cc_grip-tape

I would be checking on that board because those dimensions just don't add up.  Those dimensions do make me think of Alien Workshop decks though, which had super long nose and tail with short wheelbase and overall normal length.

Deck Specs:
Width: 8.5"
Length: 32"
Wheelbase: 14"
Nose: 7.38"
Tail: 7"

Every Baker board I have seen that is 8.5 has had more the 14.5 wheelbase, but the 8.475 size is the short board, same as they have advertised on:

https://bakerskateboards.com/pages/board-construction

SIZE                     8.475     8.5
LENGTH             31.875"     32"
WHEEL BASE    14.25"     14.5"

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

@Mbrimson88 I had that alien! I loved it. Flipped great and I didn’t worry about my toes dragging on landings. Not that I care if things look clean but like I’m skating ann8.375 now and my toes drag after done trucks and it slows me down.

All the AWS and habitat decks I’ve seen this drop is 8.5 with a 14.25. But def gonna go back up to 8.5. Just hoping for 14.1Wb I know it’s not much but in my head that’s what I need.

8.75 x 32 x 14.25

https://socalskateshop.com/Polar-Klez-Zawisza-Kidney-For-Sale-20-Football-Shape-Skateboard-Deck-Black-875x32.html
That looks really similar to my 8.75 Polar but mine is 32 1/4" long and has a 14 3/8" wb. Mine is a popsicle and looks like the same shape as that one.

Thats the one I have set up now. Such a good shape..But If that was 32 or a hair under and 14-14.25 wb it would be the answer to our prayers imo!

Do not trust SoCal skate shop's wheelbase measurements. I've seen quite a few decks on there with horribly wrong measurements.

The only thing that can be trusted is your own tape measure, considering different places have different philosophies on how to measure properly.

I sought out these magnificent beasts, before I succumbed to the idea that I need a narrower board. A company that i haven’t seen mentioned is Evisen. mine isn’t as short as it said it’d be, my measurements are: 8.25x13.8x31.5. I think they have more shapes that are proportionally short.
Wood God BFRD also recommended that I look into Blood Wizard for shorter stuff, I hear they’ve switched wood to clutch, unclear if that’s all or some, and what effect that will have on the shapes.

The "shred shape" sounds like a skinnier Loveseat, which obviously is an amazing shape. I have never seen a shredshape on here.

That 8.6 primitive with a 14 wb sounds amazing. Primitive definitely keeps their wheelbases pretty short. Would love to try one so hopefully they come back.

Also I didn’t know hockey/fa were making wider and longer boards. Seems strange considering their demographic/image.

The polar 8.6 shape feels really big to me. Wb is 14.38? Definitely a good backup as a wider deck with shorter wb that is not terribly hard to come by.

Santa Cruz boat and creature stump shapes are the same thing just different branding. They have the steeper concave that most nhs decks have and they also have a fair amount of taper. Never skated one myself but I’ve seen them in person a few times.

I’m definitely down with this movement though. Been skating mostly flat ground lately on an 8.0 just because I wanted the short maneuverability. Size 12 shoe causes some toe drag however. Definitely still on the hunt for the perfect setup

that 8.6/14 primitive sounds tasty even though i dont like mellow kicks or pointy shapes. havent seen any on their site for the last couple of drops
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Im not gonna mention brown bombers because id be expected to mention brown bombers, because i love brown bombers, and i have a stockpile of brown bombers, but lets move on from brown bombers.

Im really enjoying the frankie hill deck, i wish it was 32” long though.

The other big decks ive liked a lot have been the 9” shaped girl decks (couch or love seat), but the stress cracks were so annoying, I couldn’t live with that...would be cool if they release them in the Pop Secret lineup!

Ive had a couple of VX 8.8 decks, but they were both the older shape with 15” WB. I also rode those backwards because the tail was too short and steep.

The Black Label 8.68 popsicle was great, the WB was a little longer at 14.6, but skated really well.

I think for me, the sweet spot on wheelbase is
 -14.4-14.6 on Indy’s with 54mm wheels
-14-14.25 on Thunders with 52mm wheels

The thing i find harder to find is length...a lot of the shorter wheelbase big decks are 31’ish long, that’s something I struggle with more, I really need something between 32-32.25...feels weird typing these fractions as big differences but its amazing how much it changes my skating!

Ah that’s a bummer.

I have one in the stack. I’ll measure it when I get home. The 14.25 wheelbase was one of the main reasons I got it.

Shred shape does look pretty sick.

Im glad you liked it with Ventures because that’s the combo I wanted to try.

Forged or cast baseplate?

I think Tired also has some cool shapes with wheelbases 14.25 and below.

I had 6.1s on it so they are forged. However if I remember right they keep the wb shorter then forged or cast Ventures in all the other sizes. They worked good together for sure.
