Grimple!

I just received the original Horse Pill (Antihero Eagle, made in Mexico) and the new one by Grimple (made in China)

Same specs but molds/shapes are different.

I don't have the time now but I'll try to give more details on the differences later
I already ordered them both from you on Sunday! :D No hurry though I'll be gone till next Thursday.

Figured the other would be China because of the price difference.

Definitely curious / keen to hear.

I have the AH eagle BBS but as you say, from other boards I have compared, there are curious differences between what should be the same boards when looking at the BBS and then the China made boards, more so when comparing / looking at the 8.38 shape, but also the 8.75 and the 8.5 shapes too.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

The kicks are ridiculously different, much steeper/higher on the China Grimple. Concave is at similar height on both but feels way different, the China one is more "cupped", II stamp on the Horse Pill. I don't think the Grimple is for me at all, will put it on the wall.

The Grimple has a longer wheelbase but I think it is 14 and a quarter to a tee (36.2cm) and both of my Horse Pills actually a little short (36.0cm). So good job on that China.

so how tall are most of you?
cause I am thinking the average american man is probably like 5'9"-5'10"? which is like 14" wb territory
i like slightly longer i suppose... but i do quite fine with 14" wb with my stumpy legs (i am 6' though)

i noticed A LOT of 8.5" boards are going to 14.25" wb now... which is amazing for me because that is perfect
i got the anti hero 8.5" x 14" wb and was not in love with it to say the least. it was dope but didnt feel like it was the conclusion to my madness. 8" x 14" ok that feels good... feels proportionate i suppose?

got this anti hero horse pill lol will see how that feels. it has that 14.25" wb i like! i dont expect this to be a performance board, not sure why i even got this but i think it could look cool on the footage... but also somewhat manageable performance wise...??? for the kind of skating i do, shape board actually ends up usually being great, so this could actually just be insane lol. my heelflips go so good on big boards

Inseam is more relevant than height they say. 32" for me.

Thanks - good info!

I think the fact that BBS has so many molds so they can easily make wider / longer / whatever options, just because they have them, but any wider board usually needs a more mellow mold otherwise it ends up super steep in cross concave.

What's with the warning sticker, not BBS?

That is still a BBS board, just an alternative sticker, as I have some boards like that too and was curious.

I feel like I saw these stickers more on some other brands a while back, but I would say it is still BBS, or at the very least, it feels very much like BBS and is made in Mexico.

Someone else might know more.

did you?

re the creature:

i’ve been tempted by their dimensions before, but i’ve never ‘loved’ one of their boards. i think it’s me being a baby. i believe they use an epoxy, their boards always felt stiff and ‘dead’. to me. no nano.

Man that's an awesome shape but the tail is a measly 6.375 according to Skatedeluxe.com... time to break out the V8 Ventures?

had some time with my thoughts
and after some calculated restraint,
decided on sticking with 9s and not sizing down
i have a few other boards in this width range to test
with wheelbases between 14.2-14.375

@rikki
i have never been one to mess with the tail
as i prefer a lighter nose
but that would seem like a good time to ever try

I'm 6 foot 3 and LOVE short wheelbases and slightly shorter boards. So much better for my flip tricks.
