Primitive Scamming their customers.

So Shititive Skateboards just charged a shit ton of people 150.00 for a chance to win prods new dunk. They claimed that cards would not be charged unless the raffle was won.

Primitive is in a ton of hot water with their manufactures and is likely using that money to pay of their debts.

If you haven’t already noticed most of their riders are skating blanks and 2 year old graphics.

i would think primitive runs rather well, but overall it's not even easy to get here. sometimes team boards pop up, but most primitive stuff is apparel or dragon ball z or other licensed stuff.

but i also remember last time i used to work in a skateshop we used to carry primitive as well and i didn't do as good. most apparel would go out in a sale and board sales were pretty slow. the skaters i imagined back then that would be buying primitive would just keep buying real or even element decks. that was when the brand was pretty new, like a year or two old at most.

That said, putting a hold on your card that is the price of something you may win is not a scam and there is zero hard evidence they're in any sort of hot water financially. Kids love that brand.

It's not really unusual IF it's a hold.
A hold is a pending charge to the card that will be completed when the transaction is completed (if you win). Holds for credit cards are not unusual. I know END Clothing does that, and I think Hanon as well.
The P-Rod dunks fucking suck either way. Honestly hope Nike kills the hype of the dunk so I could actually buy a pair. No chance in the forty raffles I've entered and every local shop is backdooring them (they're all being worn openly by their "pros" before they've even released).

this is true, i don't think the whole subscription thing was a thing at the start, could be wrong though, but they clearly want to sell directly to consumer and nowadays more than 5 years later that's more common than ever. you might say there are certain shop prestige brands nowadays, like fa/hockey, polar. primitive is probably more in the category of brands that sell directly or via bigger retailers. if i want to get primitive over here my best bet is to hit up skatedeluxe or titus, the two biggest skate retailers. smaller shops usually don't even carry primitive. even though i feel like primitive is well respected overall due to the videos and heavy team, it's not really a coreshop skaters brand when it comes to its prestige or image. it's more like a current version of planb without the turn of millenium corniness and a less jockish, more chill vibe.
