That was also longboard era Freddy. Look at how far apart his feet are, disregard any fisheye from the camera. I wanna say he was skating a 34" board  or something crazy like that during that era.

I love that so much about Fred.

There are some nice clips of Matt Reason in this video starting at around 2:16. I never knew how beautiful his feebles were before watching this. There's also some really sick Donny Barley stuff. Was he the skater who introduced backside kickflip wallrides to the 90s?

Reason has the best ledge feebles, people always say Carroll but Matt’s are what got me sparked to learn them! Also, we can’t forget the other link in the Philly trilogy, that is Jerry Fischer, hard to find pics of him but he rode monster wheels/ boards too along with Matt and Fred!

Using the energy of this thread to manifest 58mm and 60mm conical fulls in skate shops.

EDIT: it really is tragic that the most readily available 58s are OJs.

Biggest size conical full is 58mm, if you want 60mm spitfires youre gonna have to get the Classics or OG Classics I think

↑ that’s fine (and I agree), I just meant that Matt, Fred and Jerry nearly all looked identical at one point; hair tucked behind ears, beanie, dark t-shirt, jeans, half cabs and big wheels!

Can't remember the exact context but I know I once told somebody that some of tricks near the end of Jerry Fischer's EE3 part are Fred Gall. They looked that much alike.

yes, there are some Fred Gall tricks in there no? The big long backside 50 180 is Fred from memory, but yeah, hard to distinguish those three during those days… that was the trilogy I was talking about

In particular, video of the long board front 50 is in that section. Glad you guys kept this thread going. I've always wanted actual numbers on what these guys sets up were like and it's nice to have them now. Anybody know what size trucks they were running? My guess would be 146.

Big Wheel big come up. F4 60mm/99a classics (I think)

Need new deck, because April deck is 8.38 advertised as 8.5.

Still gonna skate it when the weather clears up.

This thing is heavy as shit. Now I know why Matt reason did heel flips. Don’t want this thing spinning towards you. He switch backside kick flipped a one way street gap in Philly with something that looked almost like this. He was riding Thunder at the time but later he switched to Indy. IDK when.

Bout to set my Surf up with either my broken in 56 Vs or some new 58mm Speedlab Jason Adams. Love the Loopholes but also keen to try something creative-poured.

They were originally purchased from Kinetic two summers ago. I am just a brat and don't like the classic shape.

I got the one without wheel wells! I don't mind, though. I am really trying to wait and skate my 56/97 F4s until they're sub-50, but having new gear and not skating it is hard.

The 60mm are sick. I had to put 1/4” risers on but the height improved my Ollie and I landed 2 kickflips which I normally don’t try riding Dane 1 all Spring/Summer.

The April deck is just a little short in the nose and tail for such big wheels. I think getting a 33/8.6/14.75 instead of the April which is 32.25/8.5/14.38 is really going to Reason-out my deck.

Will report back in the set ups thread...

Currently running 61s on both setups

OJ winkowski team riders
OJ hosoi rockets

Big wheels make skateboarding more fun and I think they unlock spots for sure

I think 3 posts in a row constitutes playing with myself

The fancy lad has 60mm classics and 1/4 risers, pop feel is heavy but ollies are higher on this than any other setup I own

The polar has 61mm OJ team riders and 1/4 risers, square tail makes popping the tail a little easier and the shorter wheelbase makes this one more wel suited to tight transition and weird spots

Do you heat your rails up to relax them?

Is this for esthetic value or does it add slide-ability factor.

Now you’re not boarding off alone...

Thank you lol

I screw in the first 2-3 (depending) straight… then I pull the end of the tail inward till I see the curve I like and screw those in while I hold it

I do it cause I usually boardslide toward my back truck (slidability) and grab boneless toward my front truck (grip)

If you haven’t tried it I really recommend it
