Nothing to contribute yet.. but I did just download the Cakewalk DAW and started messing around with it.  It was probably a solid 8-10hrs before I figured out how to lay down drum and bass tracks and hook up my guitar amp to record as well.  To say it’s a frustrating learning curve is an understatement.  It’s also giving me a whole new appreciation for musicians who can play and keep proper timing.

well I have zero frame of reference for this type of music, but I liked it! Well produced/mixed and the spatialiasation of sounds works really well. dope you are releasing this on tape too!
Third track was my fave but that's really instinct, could not explain why....  ;D   maybe because that one has a voice sampled and manipulated?
anyways this is really the type of stuff I would listen to after a nice big spliff ha.

I always felt like listing to music and smoking a lot of weed works better than making music and smoking a lot of weed. I usually got too lost in sound when making music while being super high. Small doses and slightly blazed always worked better.

same. I like to have maybe half a joint before rehearsing, but not more. And definitely not if it's a real gig!

@Coastal Fever welcome to the music nerd community! yup it is a steep learning curve. There is just SO MUCH stuff you can do with a DAW like Cakewalk or Ableton. Compose, arrange, mix, master, program drums, program synths, it's limitless....When I started messing around with Cubase 20 years ago, I think it took me over a year to have a grasp of how the whole thing works.

A band I am in, Indigo Ranch, had an LP drop during my Slap hiatus. We will be touring the midwest in November hopefully.

"Philly cold wave punx Idigo Ranch just fried my brain with this singular and heady masterpiece. This duo craft dreary, minimal dancy tracks that almost sound like a mix between Psychic TV and Grauzone- though they have a clear voice of their own. Heavily textured songs with truly beautiful hooks. Don’t sleep on this banger. You might just not wake up. Out on @fantastiquehq. For fans of a body floating in Freon." - U2 Is A Government Drone

I was jamming this screw tape and this one part kept catching my ear

Looked it up, some obscure da brat freestyle I couldn't find the source

The sample turns out to be Boz Scags-The Lowdown.

Just recreated a simple loop and chopped so you can have an instrumental to mess with

My album got reviewed!!!
This is the first positive review I’ve ever yo!! Yo yo yo and yo it feels goooood!
They get of course. James is the realest of the real. Likely why it feels so good

SCUMBARI
S/T
2024
Scum is a layer of dirt or froth on the surface of a
liquid.
Bari is a port city on the Adriatic Sea, and the capital of
Southern Italy's Puglia region.
Scum may also refer to nearly all politicians, CEO's,
and leaders of society, whether in politics, religion or
business.
Bari is located in Southern Italy, at a more Northerly
latitude than Naples, further south than Rome.

Scum may reside in a bathtub, a sink or anywhere where
liquid mixes with dirt and grime.
While also in the hearts and minds of the ones who rule us, who are only concerned with power and wealth for themselves and are only out to hurt everybody else.
And like liquid and dirt, power and wealth seem to exist with the same results.
Though the former is more physical and the latter related more to lack of ethics, morality and good intent.
 :-*
Now, Scumbari is a band, not from Italy but from the
outskirts of Boston.
Scumbari describe themselves as "punk rock trash" which I'm in agreement with, but there's a bit of Oi and hardcore in their traditional, nihilistic punk rock songs as well.
(This is my favorite part) :)
Plus, a bit of Medieval English folk music with mandolins and flutes which, unfortunately, though I sense it is there, cannot be heard above the racket of the guitars and
drums.

But if I can speak as a rational, sane person which,
obviously, I'm not. (It’s p90 layers ;))

I would say that Scumbari has great, straightforward lyrics about jobs, drink and drugs- you know, all the pitfalls of life. Along with rockin' punk influenced music without  nearly any traces of trash.
Except for the best parts of life which society tends to
toss away in the waste bin.

Let's gather a layer of frothy grime and listen:
"72 Hours" begins with some chaos and then is jettisoned into super-sonic overdrive with bashing drums and slashing guitars.
"I hear them talking shit about me. It's coming through
the walls." Though the dude's not crazy as he's "been
taking all my meds like I should."
This song is a propulsive rush of speed with an equally
terrific, slower breakdown in the middle.
I may be certifiably insane but I'm also crazy about
this energetic, powerful song.

"Full Time Job" is an adrenaline shot that expresses a
barrage of restlessness, dissatisfaction and anger .
"I could be drinking, can't hold a job, spend all day
drinking- full time slob."
I like this song almost as much as I like drinking.
"I can't stop once I start."
This song doesn't stop as it's a full on non-stop explosion of excitement and energy.
After some great, speaker ripping bass, "Sleaze" comes
busting in like a gang invited to a knife fight.
"I see you looking across the bar. I don't care about
your sign or stars. I don't care what you think. Just as
long as you buy me a drink- Just One Shot!"
This song hits hard and true and ends with the group
vocals of "Drink, Smoke, Snort, Fuck" which I believe
they nicked from the motto of the Christian Evangelist
American Youth Party.

"Hot Shot" blasts out like a pitbull on meth as it goes
for your eardrums and clasps on but won't let go.
I know a hot shot is someone who thinks he's special,
but I also know it's a shot of heroin to take you to the
promised land. Pretty sure the latter is what it means here, and while I can't promise you that I am correct. I'm willing to bet that this song is great enough to take you to the next world and beyond.

Scumbari may not be from Italy and don't play Italian music at that. (Though, I think there might be a bit of accordion that is also drowned out by the other instruments). :) (p90s doing full bars in major and minor layered and lowered)

But I'm sure that what they are is a new punk rock (trash) band. And what they play is some hard hittin' sounds that should start a spark inside of you after the music barrels through your ears, mind and heart.
And I guess- I'm now being rational and sane again, and for that I humbly apologize.

[iBut if you like power, rawness, realness and excitement in your music? Music that rips an extra one inside of your ears and your being.

Well, I guess, you need not go any further than here.

My band Captions released an album nine years ago. Since then, it’s mainly just been writing for fun on the side when life allows. But we’re hoping to write and record an EP this year. This is my personal favorite song from the album:

happy to say my band (punkish stuff, to be concise but vague....) finished recording, mixing and mastering of our first EP. finally! shit takes a long time when you have a day job    :P

We went to this cheap studio run by an old punker dude, so everything except the vocals was recorded live in the room, no click track....Pretty happy with the results! It'll be out friday, here's the little promo vid we did for the release.

On this day in like 2016 I woke up smoked a kool. Then I Wrapped up my torn acl and p ut my guitars on my back. I grabbed my cruiser board and I rowed myself from Rockport to Allston with my crutches. That’s like a 3 hour tour.
I smoked the rest of the 40 bag and freestyled all these instruments. Somehow Eric Struth of Upheaval (black metal) was able to turn my drug mess into this.
I removed all the mics and triggers on the kit to get just a stereo picture in the room and one mic on the kit

I wanted this to sound like this. And it does. Check out my one person improv drug grind on its anniversary ok

Last time I posted my shit on here I got embarrassed and deleted the post even though a couple people really liked it
I’ll leave it up on here
https://scalzo.bandcamp.com/album/the-polish-sickle

This is the last project I’m going to do for a hot minute because I’m going back to school. Actually been sitting on all these tracks since early October, but life over the past few months has been crazy, and I’ve had no motivation to finish the project past these 8 tracks.

One of these tracks actually got picked up for a playlist on bandcamp’s hip-hop radio show, which really surprised me and made me happy, because for years I thought the reason people didn’t listen to my music was because my voice is too raspy, grating, and hard to get used to. But this project is probably the highlight of all the years I’ve spent tinkering away in my bedroom trying to make full fleshed songs out of my beats.

If anyone takes a listen and happens to dig it, you can also find the album on pretty much all the streaming platforms. Apple, Spotify, YT music, Deezer, whatever
