Im realizing the reason I like my half cabs is because of how thick the sole is, not the rest of the shoe.
Can someone point me in the direction of other “thick” sole shoes similar to half cabs? Most other threads talking about this seem to focus on the thickness and feel of the shoe material, not the sole
Are they the Classic or the Skate versions?
All other Vans in which ever versions have the same sole, so I am guessing you mean the Skate range, as they have a little thicker waffle sole than the regular or Classic versions of the shoe.
Skate have the checkered tag too, usually come in a white box, etc.
Yeah, pop crush, checkered flag, says skateboarding on it, etc.
Wait, so you're saying it's the same sole as the vans slip on pros? Really?
Damn, maybe it is the thickness of the rest of the shoe then...or maybe I was skating my beat up slip ons so long that a new sole felt miles thicker...
If that's the case, thanks. I guess I can just get any thick shoe then and be fine it sounds like (def prefer thick over thin slip ons or canvas)
Just note, "PRO" was the older version, which has been replaced by the upgraded "SKATE" versions of all shoes / all styles.
As Frank/Fred says, Rowans were the first to try the new technology, but now they all have the same soles. I first got the Rowan shoe, thought it was a good upgrade, then got the Skate Old Skool, Skate Sk8 Low, Skate Sk8 Hi, Skate Half Cab and a couple of others, just to see what they were like. Yes they are decent shoes, all the same soles on them.
Also note, the new Skate Slip Ons are said to be a different shape and feel of upper than the old Pro versions and a lot of people are not liking the new Skate Slip Ons at all, so try them on before getting any, if you do want that shoe.
I have Pro Slip Ons which are good, but I haven't even bothered to look at the Skate Slip Ons, mainly due to the reviews, but you might find they do work for you.
