“Hyperpop hardcore punk reflects an exaggerated, eclectic, and self-referential approach to pop punk music and typically employs elements such as brash synth melodies rhythms, Auto-Tuned anthemic "earworm" vocals, and excessive compression and distortion, as well as surrealist or nostalgic critical references to 2000s Internet and the Web 2.0 era 1970s music industry and commercialism culture.”
hyperpop : pop :: hardcore punk : punk
Excessive, reactionary, aggressive, faster, louder, jarring, and what the old heads don't want to admit—not immediately easy to listen to.
It's the same, in a new way, complete with its own fashion, art style, political views, etc. Geriatric millennials hating on hyperpop are baby boomers hating on punk.
Lastly, what a humiliatingly douchey thing to say:
Lots of young dudes telling on themselves here who clearly haven’t read any Mendelssohn, Kant, or Hutcheson to understand the universality of taste.
