The whole Van Wastell situation was handled very poorly by all involved. Locking someone who is gripped with addiction into a room, with only one way out...I get there were all young, except maybe Jamie Hart, and probably had no experience in dealing with anything like that before, but this all could've played out very differently and Van could still be here today.

What happened?

Van Wastell was using (heroin, I think). His teammates took it away from him, I assume hoping to help. Later that night, he either fell from or jumped out of a window and died.

To keep this thread going, because it should: Van Wastell should be alive today, clean and sober, and talking about the good ole' days. I only rediscovered skating a few years ago and couldn't care less about Krooked, but as an LA native, something about this always stuck with me, and seeing his videos from back in the days made me realize what a great skater and dude the world lost in Berlin back then. RIP Van.

Real Heavyweight decks. They came out around 2006-2007ish and only came in wider sizes for the time. 8.25 was the smallest. Not sure when they stopped making them though

The Heavyweights technology is a standard 7 ply deck which promises an improved strength through two cross-directional X-Band plys. Cross-directional layers can improve the stiffness of a composite like a skateboard deck because the stresses are distributed and compensated. The two plys are also thicker to support the strength. In summary, the decks offer more stiffness and strength.
