Beatrice was at Tompkins about a month ago. Lots of kids were doing tricks over this little four-inch rail somebody had stood up. She gets in line and tries to ollie it going 5mph and slips out. Everybody goes oooooh. Then she tried it again (same speed) and landed it. Everybody went ahhhhh. Think she got a few yews. Then she did a kickflip i think and chilled on the benches the rest of the day.

I didn't know who she was because I haven't followed skating since 09 but I thought it was cool as fuck. I assumed she was just some random girl who started skating recently. I was impressed that she was so confident doing beginner stuff over it when people were nollie back heeling it. I love seeing beginners actually going for it at the park and not being shy, and seeing a WOC doing her thing skating and progressing made me happy. Went home with good vibes that night. When I learned who she was I was pretty baffled though.

Think it can be pretty standard. Muscle does quickly plus however long before the surgery she probably wasn't using that leg much.

maybe i’m out of touch now cause it seems like a lot of industry people support it. but i refuse to deny how lame it is a skater of her skill level can be called pro.

she firmly belongs in the realm of social media influencer type skaters… Women skateboarding already gets criticized for their skills, having her achieve pro gives fuel to the fire.  and it lowers the bar. I’m all for supporting her but pro? nah.

Unrelated but i think the next domino to fall of these kind of skaters is Eunice Chang from worble. She’s cool and all and i like her instagram videos, but pro? Nah. I hope they don’t do it.

Elissa was/is in a whole other dimension than Beatrice. She also had JT, who for better or worse whatever your feelings are about him, was by her side and really showed and pushed her true potential as a skateboarder.
