I really never understood why Element didn't just do a Bam company at his height, with Maldando and Getz and just put a bunch of rail hooper nobody ams on. Even keep the Element affiliation kinda like how it was whit Hosoi and SMA having Santa Cruz logos on the boards.

Bam was the first thought also a brand under element would have sold like mad back in the day. Not like he needed the money thou.

Maybe the reason to not do the bam brand was that people who liked bam bought other element boards. Put a different logo on bam boards and lose the spillover.
From memory most bam boards just said bam really big with an element logo so it kinda was like the hosoi already.

I sort of wish Kalis and Apples started what they were thinking of doing. No idea how it would have ended up.

On a different note, not a pro, but I do think Dime could have done really well as a skate team like how Huf branched off from a shop into shoes, but at this point they'd be ripping like half of All-timers team to do it.

Donny Barley - I think had had a shop briefly? Could be a great East Coast brand owner…

I second this.

Curren can stay on skate mental . I fuck with him but I need a part before I’m saying he’s at the top of his game . I mean last real part he had was filmed nearly a decade ago . What happened to that part he was talking about on the bunt?
im pretty sure that skate mental said they're coming out with a video next month so there'll probably be a curren part in there

Plenty of pros have started plenty of board companies, some successfully and some were complete failures.

Who is a pro who always rode for others but probably could have had his own board brand and it would have been a success?

Maybe you will mention a certain pro, and then someone will remind you that they did in fact start a board brand that you never heard of, and that will be embarrassing for them, and we will all get a laugh.

I think Caballero could have had his own successful board brand at different points during his career.  In fact I think he's the only bones brigade guy who didn't do that?

I also think that Cheeks Skateboards or something by Chico Brenes could have been successful.

Others?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Central Skateboards was Chico’s own board brand (coinciding with his shop)
personally I can only hope to be remembered in a slap post three years after my death, with my name spelled wrong

I know Lance had the Firm, but he could do another board brand. He talked about how he had a plan to do one not long on the Nine Club after getting on Flip. I wish that would’ve happened.

I’m surprised Austyn didn’t do one. I think he said he was suppose to do one. Surprised he didn’t make it happen.

Future board brand starters: Gilbert Crockett comes to mind. I think Kalis still could. Appleyard too.

+1. They all skate together anyway. There's enough boards in the sales bin at shops all over the world as it stands.

As much as everyone loves lance in that same interview he talks about how much money he donates to Christian shit (which if I remember correctly is how he fucked up) and don't know how many people would want to ride for that or how much that would turn off customers from buying.

Slightly off topic, but I wish Lance would have kept The Firm going forever. Also kinda wish Winkowski would start his own thing.

Wink is a company man. He be deep in the Cult of NHS. Multiple boards out on SC and Creature, pro model Indy’s, and 2-3 sets of OJs. Even Bronsons.
Can’t say I don’t envy the guy. Rad skater all round, when he’s doing other stuff than the invert hand stand thing.
The stuff he puts out via NHS is really dope, so I kinda don’t hope he goes and does his own thing.
Im too dumb to figure out how to make this drawing my profile pic.

I don't think Barley gave a fuck, I assume he was making so much of off Quiksilver he really didn't care cuz he was without a board sponsor for so long. I heard 2nd or 3rd hand from Sal that he had an insane minimum that he wanted from a deck company that no one could afford him, but a lot people wanted him. Thats why Sal eventually got him on Zoo when he was running it, spend that Ecko money.

what board company do you reckon he’d be on if he were alive?
legit thought about this the other day. R.I.P. but i cant help but wonder where he would have gone after Flip. Krooked? Alien/Habitat? Baker?

Shane, Chima and Lewis seemed to be the most productive ones. Jake Duncombe seemed to pile out early while the others were just heatin up
