Who are they? Aside from Mark Suciu.
You’re a Florida native, aren’t you?

The guy who invented the Ollie (transition) is a molecular biologist or something. Don't know if that qualifies as smart, but he obviously worked hard academically.

Edit: As an aside, it seems Suciu gets a bit of heat about being an "intellectual" or some crap. Pretty lame to bag someone out for wanting to get an education...

But he's just a hobbyist his education serves no purpose. May as well be an adult thinking you're better than others because you know all the Pokemons names.

Think Diego buchieri had degree in chemistry or mathematics or something

What do you mean by hobbyist and his education serves no purpose, not trolling, genuine question. What does he actually study? I only know he was/is in tertiary education. What field?

Well I am trolling a little lol. I like suciu but he's just classic rich kid. He's not a doctor or engineer or anything the planet needs that also takes a lot of work/need to genuinely be smart. I don't even know what exactly he studied either but think hes talked about architecture and prob literature which is just what every wanky rich kid goes to uni for

Alexis Sablone has a masters from MIT in Architecture.  That's pretty gnarly.  I think Rattray has a Masters in Physics or something like that.

Suciu has been reading Brion Gysin, neat. That bumps him up the list of my favourite skaters.

Smart is such a subjective term. There are people out there with degrees of all different kinds who don’t necessarily think people who work on cars or build things with their hands are considered smart and vice versa
I think knowing all the intricacies of a motor and knowing how to fix/ improve that shit is so fucking smart.
Knowing how to build a house, a ramp ,or anything from scratch is pretty smart as well.

So IMO dudes with a side hustle/ fallback plans/ savings are the smartest people in skateboarding.

Agreed, this is the correct answer. If we're talking pros, those that have some foresight and don't piss their royalty cheques up the wall in favour of saving or investing it for that inevitable day when they stop moving product...

I think Rattray has a Masters in Physics or something like that.
He has a bachelor of science in physics according his LinkedIn
https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-rattray-23283a46

Also: Prof. Howell earned his PhD in architectural and urban history from the University of California, Berkeley

https://history.uoregon.edu/profile/ohowell/
https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/M/bo18038602.html

This hate for art degrees is kinda weird. Is this now reddit where only mint degrees count?

Reynolds.  Built himself a successful and respected brand and has a pretty high success rate in his ability to spot talent.

Truth is we all know that Birdman is the smartest skateboarder, since he is the richest. I reckon behind that introverted and murmuring  demeanour of his is a buzzing bird brain that has calculated a scheme ,since the 900,  how to squeeze as much bucks as possible out of that event... all to ruthlessly climb himself to the top of the food chain, brushing shoulders with celebrities and millionaires alike. Pure genius. We all squabble here in the slap forum like a bunch of moaning peasants as Tony sits back laughing and counting back enough money to turn the Hawk family into a rich dynasty for generations to come.
