Truth is we all know that Birdman is the smartest skateboarder, since he is the richest. I reckon behind that introverted and murmuring  demeanour of his is a buzzing bird brain that has calculated a scheme ,since the 900,  how to squeeze as much bucks as possible out of that event... all to ruthlessly climb himself to the top of the food chain, brushing shoulders with celebrities and millionaires alike. Pure genius. We all squabble here in the slap forum like a bunch of moaning peasants as Tony sits back laughing and counting back enough money to turn the Hawk family into a rich dynasty for generations to come.

Hawks father played an important role,  also financial advisors. Birdman was lucky that he came from an educated family.

As an aside, it seems Suciu gets a bit of heat about being an "intellectual" or some crap. Pretty lame to bag someone out for wanting to get an education...

He gets heat because he's far from the only person in skating to have an education yet he has made it his persona to be that guy who skates and reads books. The way he talks when he walks up to that book stand in the jenkem video is nauseating. I showed my wife that clip and the first thing she said was 'he seems like he's insecure about being a skateboarder'. God, it's so bad.

for pure capitalistic success, rob dyrdek and t.hawk.
for book-nerd stuff, julien stranger talked about jung vs freud as it related to his uncles in an old interview. old antihero was literary. and not just bukowski.
louie barletta has the blue collar smarts to operate a tank and the degree in poetry or philosophy that will get you a coffeeshop job. he's a sillier suciu [who he may have inspired, SJ!].
marc johnson can seem intelligent but i believe he's somewhere between midwit and nincompoop.
john rattray has a real degree.

That's sick but not surprising at all.

Smolik demanding the snow-camo Navigator as a signing bonus is better than anything Suciu will ever write.

I like Suciu but he paved the way for the “skaters who went to college” genre of writing and general content production and that alone is absolutely insufferable.
