The best thing to come from this thread will be the idea of crowd-funded bounties for tricks. It’s an app in the making- Google maps + spot book + a ‘go fund me’ service combined together
After tossing around the idea for a few years to fellow skaters and more often than not getting positive feedback, I started building a service like this, starting with some heavily skated spots in California.
Then I talked to a lawyer, who informed me if this service was hosted in the USA, I'd be responsible for any legal issues that surfaced due to providing a platform that allows people to accumulate money to be used as rewards for acts that could violate laws.
So if you are taking on the concept, figure out a way to:
- Do it that doesn't hold you legally responsible (decentralized or hosted "elsewhere")
- Ensure sensitive spots aren't added that would lead to them getting blown out
- Navigate the banking, or some type of money distribution system. I don't know tax law, and trying to bypass it with cryptocurrency could backfire.
Trick bounties aren't a new thing, but unless it already exists, I'm not aware of a searchable database of tricks / locations where the pot keeps growing.
