Please don't give this guy a free trip to LA just because he was talking nonsense when drunk (his admission btw). If he's confident, then he can pay his own way and easily make the cash back with everything that's been pledged.

idk man

and sorry I'm too broke to contribute

Like shitting on other people having a bit of fun in this godforsaken world. I could think of countless worse ways to spend money, and talking about respect - it's for sure none of your damn business what I do with my cash, or anyone else with theirs.

How about we make it more interesting and add a losing consequence if he gets there and can't do anything? Like having to skate Austyn's Globe shoe for a year.

...nah, that's too harsh.

It's a two way street, I'm just disrupting traffic a bit by jaywalking. I (me) guess the reality of a dude claiming a gnar trick at a spot where a thrasher cover was shot needs to not be taken so seriously. If it's all about "fun", and it does or doesn't go down, doesn't really matter. Just found the whole thing preposterous, and that's on me for coming across as a naysayer online and pissing off the youth. Ya'll strong, and so weak at the same time.

Spend your money however you want dad, I sincerely don't give a fuck

Obviously it's not a serious matter. That's the whole point, at least to me. I'm rooting so hard for versacekid to actually make it to the spot because the whole thing is so preposterous. Of course "smart" money is on him not even getting there, but there's no fun in that. Looking at a spot and thinking "no way I could ever do anything there" is the norm for the vast majority of cover spots. We've got a notorious pal claiming something on a gnarly spot here, that's a very welcome curveball. Let's milk it for a while before we inevitably revert back to talking about pants.

The best thing to come from this thread will be the idea of crowd-funded bounties for tricks. It’s an app in the making- Google maps + spot book + a ‘go fund me’ service combined together

After tossing around the idea for a few years to fellow skaters and more often than not getting positive feedback, I started building a service like this, starting with some heavily skated spots in California.

Then I talked to a lawyer, who informed me if this service was hosted in the USA, I'd be responsible for any legal issues that surfaced due to providing a platform that allows people to accumulate money to be used as rewards for acts that could violate laws.

So if you are taking on the concept, figure out a way to:
- Do it that doesn't hold you legally responsible (decentralized or hosted "elsewhere")
- Ensure sensitive spots aren't added that would lead to them getting blown out
- Navigate the banking, or some type of money distribution system. I don't know tax law, and trying to bypass it with cryptocurrency could backfire.

Trick bounties aren't a new thing, but unless it already exists, I'm not aware of a searchable database of tricks / locations where the pot keeps growing.

Sounds like it'd be just hardcore tricks and only pros taking all the money, which isn't that bad but I'd like to see casuals getting involved
