Nah, Lev would have him on Palace in a heartbeat if he ever became available.
[close]

Isn’t there a Palace ad that lists multiple pros who tried to get on but they denied?

Dill, Pontus, Penny, maybe Tiago and one other?
[close]
dill, Pontus, miles silvas wanted in but palace said nein
they fuck with and wanted Tony Ferguson though

It's funny, I always thought they were talking about Magnus Bordewick with that dig. The mention of "skating rails" seemed like an inside joke because that dude doesn't really have any rail footage. I don't know. Magnus Bordewick is sick though.

Penny should’ve made millions from flip over a lifetime. Rowley too. They’re like Jordan and Kobe.

Who cares.  Everyone wants big clip art logo in middle of the board on stained ply in 2023, not Cheech and Chong.

Cory Juneau deserved to be pro years ago....
Unique unmatched skills and style.... no one can touch his approach.

He puts out more footy in a month than 2/3 of that team

Anyone know how Rowley fell out with Flip? Like what's the beef? Generally curious...
[close]
Quote from Rowley: "I am proud to have been riding for Flip for over twenty years, enjoying many years of success and good times. But, as a rider the time has come for me to part ways with the brand.

I have nothing but love for the team, past and present, and wish all continued success for Flip. Exciting new opportunities will allow me to be utilized to my fullest potential, and I’ll be divulging more in the coming months on the positive change for the future.”

My guess is that he was getting bored and wanted to start something new where he had creative control. Thus starting Freedome shortly after leaving
https://freedometoskate.com/

Flip has been a shell of a company for years now. Last good thing that came out of flip was Flip 3 and that was 8 years ago

He wanted to pursue making 18" WB boards.

i actually still see a fair bit of flip out in the wild

people who are good too, not just kids who thought a shroom graphic would be edgy

i'm guessing it's all down to legacy love for tom though

i'd say the 2 shoes he's had out on es since rejoining have been the single most common shoes i've seen at the park after lynxs and dunks

But......where are you based? what country?

If you're in Europe then yeah, you might see a few Flip around but I'm pretty sure they're dead in US. Even Zumies only has 4 decks up and one is a Lance shaped deck. Flip of USA, lol.

I love how the US remains the perceived basis of something being 'dead', if no one rocks their stuff there.

yeah, sorry. The US shouldn't be a barometer for everything.

I see Oz shops have some too. Brazil, including Luan's own shop, only sell his deck. They are out there but not as high profile as they were.

At least in my southamerican reality (CHILE) we haven´t seen FLIP boards since they left NHS distro. You could see them on the street till 2016-2017, but im pretty sure kids nowadays don't even know about them.

Maybe HLC works for them in europe and keeps the brand alive, but its overall presence in our part of the globe its none.

BTW I remebered a story: In 2003 a friend bought a boulala board that sucked balls so hard nobody ever wanted to buy flip boards in my city  ;D It was weirdly shaped, really skinny 7 plys and it broke after a few days. It was never worth the money, no matter how much we liked the sorry video

What was the Boulala situation? It sounds like they eventually found him, was that a good thing?

I assume they're referring to the moped crash with Shane Cross, ended his career basically

It's comparable to how it is when you go back and watch movies from your childhood. Recently I went back and watched Encino Man and In The Army Now and was surprised by how bad those movies aged.

Sometimes its better to just leave those memories as they are.

Went into a shop today (Canada) and they had a couple flip decks on the wall. It’s a small shop, and seemed to have 2-3 of most brands (baker, quasi, dlx stuff, etc.)

They stood out to me since I haven’t seen any in awhile.

I’ll always have a soft spot for flip. Sorry is an all time video, and I thought those new-wave decks they had years back were kinda cool despite the gimmic.

Very true! I've never drunk alcohol but I remember how cool the Piss Drunx team seemed to me when I was 16. They seemed the most punk thing ever lol

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to decipher the writing on the tail end. I even first tried to read it upside down. Must have been the shrooms on the board.

So, this is slightly related to this thread but HLC just sent me their stock and pricelist. Times are hard for everyone if they're just sending this out to anyone. Not even a "are you interested in doing distro for HLC". I just got added to their stock mailer.

I mean looking at their brandlist i'm not suprised if they have struggles
