2023 draws to a close so I will look back fondly at the Emericas I've skated throughout the year. Or last years, it's mostly a blur at this point.

Dicksons, I only recently tried these for the first time. I disliked them the instant I put them on. I forced myself to like them I really did. It turned into animosity so I left them at a skatepark. Though I did take back my shoelaces.

Temples, I thought they were cute in a homely way. It reminded me of older times. Visions of kr3w jeans. The upper was soft and pillowy suede. The vulcanized sole is that clunky one they use. Somewhere on the internet, a review mentioned this as well, they even weighed them because they felt so heavy. I feel like this model came and went without much fanfare. But I did like these.

Tilts, Chunky. They kickflipped nicely. I would have skated these again.

Pillar, Their mid top vulc. These held up for a long time. I appreciated that. Skated well.

Spanky g6, I should have hoarded these. I loved them. Why didn't I buy more of them? I only have one pair left tucked away. And I am not convinced by the new boot version.

Ksl g6, RIP you left us too soon

Laced, unwearable torture device

Slip cup, pleasant surprise if you like skating in slip ons

Gammas, I had the original white leather colorway, loved them, At a later point I had the g6 version and those were alright. I liked this upper with their basic sole more for some reason. I bought the rust colorway the other week and they are unskateable. On one shoe, it's almost as if the upper and sole are misaligned. Big toe feels like it's jutting out of the side of the shoe.

@Cthulhu! noice overview, I’m also kicking myself for not buying more KSLs…
For the laced, was it the newer version with the heel tab? I’m kinda curious about them but from reviews it seems that they are very divisive shoe.

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

The Slip Cup is my new go to shoe hands down.

Thankful to be able to stock up on G6 soled shoes this year.

It was the older style. I am interested in the new version with the little heel pillow too...but fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me, you can't get fooled again.

so it was only the heel section that you would describe as a torture device then?
Looks like I’m going to have to be the Guinea pig then because I don’t think I can rock the figgys in grey/ red…

Not to rub salt into the wound, but I'm so glad I stocked up on the Spanky. I've got the charcoal and baby blue in rotation at the moment, and another 3 pairs of the charcoal and 1 wine waiting patiently.

I recently went through a pair of the wine ones, lasted me nearly 2 years. (Granted I'm a dad to two young kids and don't skate/film as much I used to, but I'd wear them a few times a week.)

I'm fully sold by the high top version. Can't wait for those.

I skated a couple pairs and while they never dug into my Achilles, they are a very thin cupsole and can leave your dogs barking.  Good board feel though

Good for Tim, he seemed too good for a burning ship like Emerica.

Have 3 pairs of the KSL on ice.  Should last me until I find its proper successor from New Balance, Asics or elsewhere.  Definitely feels like the end of an era.

Unfortunately, it was a lay off but one door closing means another door opens. Beyond grateful to be able to work at my favorite brand of all time since I was a little skate rat and onto bigger and better things! Appreciate all the kind words and all the slap pals.

I hope Tim stays talking with us on here.

Probably no need for this thread since there’s no rep to talk to.  Maybe he’ll join us in whatever dedicated brand thread that exists already.

Congrats!
