I'm more thinking it looks like that Wes Kramer shoe. But with a stitched toecap and more complicated collar.

Both are SD boys, and Braden's the right age that I bet he was a Wes fan from a young age.

https://www.boardsportsource.com/emerica-skate-footwear-f-w-2024-preview/
Sounds like it's exactly what Braden wanted, in terms of design, from this interview with the designer at Emerica. Lots of times if a skater gets exactly what they want... it ends up not pushing the style or innovation barometer. But I bet it skates great... I recently skated the Provost on that same vulc chassis, and it was great! Better than other vulc shoes I've skated in the last few years.

It actually had the stitching when it first came out, so it's even more similar

Crazy that it's been 11 years since it came out. I remember some of my friends skated the Wes shoe, telling me the sole was ridiculously thin and the stitching just ripped the second it got in contact with griptape, so hopefully Bradens shoe will be a lot better with the G6 insole and the reverse stitching

I've worn 10.5 in Emerica for years (multiple models), as well as Lakai, Li-Ning, and a pair of the Dill snakeskin adidas Sambas. If that helps.

I mean the Ed 1 was clearly the more iconic shoe, but I have literally been teased now for over two years and now I’m just sitting here feeling like I’ve got blue balls…

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

How does the G6 sole compare to the New Balance 1010 or 808? I might pick some up while I can if they have the same level of cushion.

There isn't remotely the level of support. It's a specific foam put on a basic ass capsule from 15 years ago whereas NB designed their shoes with multiple foams, thicknesses, shapes, and matched the sole to the support. They are not even close although some people don't care and just want some Cush and they likely do that. The build quality between the two is very clear when you see them side by side.

I'm going to Detroit for my friends wedding soon. I'll see if I still have any film/memory cards of Wild Ride 2008 at my folks. I lost a hard drive at one point and lost a lot of stuff, but I might actually have some of these. I know I have the negatives. There were some Zero dudes there. I remember Matt Ball, someone else and I found a black bear mummy that got run over by a train and Ball cut its paw off and emptied the rest of his weed out of his Ziploc freezer bag and put the paw in there. Prolly not moral or legal but I was 19 so I thought it was awesome. Looking for civil war bullets along a stream with GSD? It was a vibe. I'll keep y'all posted. Golden age emerica shit. We went to LOVE with Herm and we were trying to offer him ridiculous sums to hard flip INTO the water fountain with the water in it. We were drunk. Props to herms brother and braydins brother for making me a "prospect" and playing into the Harley Davidson aspect of the tour. I saw Jerry ride into/up a tree at low speed by accident. Those two weeks are burned into my memory forever and I hope I have the digital stuff too. It's been a long strange trip since 2008

I actually prefer the KSL G6 and Gamma G6 to the 1010 because unlike the 1010 the G6s actually stay on my foot without any heel slip nor the need to choke up my laces. I also like the grip on the G6 more than the 1010 sole.

If you removed all of the sizing questions/complaints from the NB thread, it would probably go from 300 pages to 50 pages

Legit, NBs are great shoes but they don’t work for me. I do lurk once in a while to see what’s new but like you said it’s pages upon pages of “how’s the fit of the 1010?”

So I recently just purchased 4 pairs of the Wino G6 Slip Cup from various places to stock up. It looked like there were only the vulc versions on the Emerica website for a while, and some local shops were running out of stock of the cupsole slip. I was worried they were discontinued.

I just checked the website again today and the cup sole slip is back with a "new" label.

They're the best shoe I've ever skated. I can't do Vans Slip-Ons anymore with my busted feet. The G6 Slip Cup has the comfort of a slip-on with the flick, support and stability of a cup sole shoe. Ticks all the boxes for me.

If anyone form SoleTech reads this thread, please don't ever discontinue them! There's nothing else like it ( a good cup sole slip-on skate shoe ) on the market.

They did that after the buyout, there’s only 3 sizes available and that’s been like that for some time.

It’s done

EmericaTM said (pre-buy out) they'd likely reduce the slip cup drops from line staples to rarer releases of limited colors or if collabs / special releases once a year or so. So yes, definitely stock up (I'm with you on that). Fingers crossed the new owners re-invest on the G6 cupsole, but fingers crossed they at least stick to the occasional drop plan.

If you don’t mind my asking, what have you replaced the KSL with?

I go back and forth between my stash of these and the Alltimers Fastbreak.  For instance, my knees/ankles were aching a bit this morning so I went KSL and it made a big difference.  I know I’m not alone in hoping the Reynolds shoe will solve this problem and carry us KSL people to the cupsole promised land.
I liked the tiago 1010s. I wouldn't say comparable since it's very differentely shaped but it offers good protection. Lots of people say they get heel slip tho which I haven't experienced.

But lately, I've been skating blazers. My feet are sore after sessions but I'm skating well. I have a pair of leo bakers on ice that feel like a slightly more supportive blazer. IDK the g6 cup was great but I'm finding that I want more grip and feel vs protection at this moment.

Nice, yeah I’ve been on a similar tip favoring board feel over protection etc.  Hence the Fastbreaks.  I have some 1010s but I havent really skated them more than once - mainly because I like them too much and want to just chill in them, but also like you said the shape of the shoe is slightly awkward, not a perfect fit.  I agree the mesh top ones fit better than leather - I had similar fit problems with those, but I wear them around happily - sorry to sound like a broken record of the NB thread haha

Nike is one company I’ve never bought skate shoes from though I’m not opposed.  The Leo is very appealing and actually the PS8 has my interest as well.  Always thought Blazers might be too narrow on me but I should probably try them at some point.
I have wide feet and its hard to describe but Blazers are narrow but form to my feet well and don't hurt. We may have different hot spots that bother our feet so I would just say try them on. But for me, the thinness of the sole is what makes me sore, not the shape of the upper.

Leo's are much wider and are probably what my feet naturally would be happier in despite my current love of blazers.
