My KSL III came in the mail, I got the white leather colorway. I got to say they are even better in person! It felt like I was unboxing an Emerica shoe from 2008. They are TTS and a wee bit on the wider side. Very happy with my purchase and if they make some cool future colorways I will buy in an instant.

Sounds good! Skating my last pair of NB 440s now and looking for something else. KSL 3 seems like a good option and I like it's great for wider feet.

I just know your ass is lying so you can be a contrarian here

The sole is a quality sole and the upper looks better in person

Maybe you just don't like the shoes/brand for some personal reason? Soletech/NDK makes shoes that compete with the bigger companies in quality & durability

Ya know, I don’t pay attention to much of what other posters post about but the only thing you do on this website is whine about how much something sucks (sometimes in large bold letters) or try to get people to make fun of the way another user ties their shoes, so I’ll take whatever you got to say with a grain of salt, I got two pairs, and can kickflip better than you barefoot, get bent

But you do you.
Back to topic i think the KSL3 looks okay.
Not that hyped about the shoe when i saw Ben's video as you can clearly see he isn't that hyped too.
Will wait for more reviews before i consider to buy.

And I hold no shame in enjoying quality skate shoes from those brands. Whether people want to see me as a "fanboy" or someone who just knows his tastes/preferences doesn't matter to me.
Most of what I've "defended" hasn't even been close to "absurd." I don't love everything those three brands put out, and I've made that clear multiple times when sharing insight about sizing, durability, fit, colorways, and more.

Did we watch the same video? It's clear Ben enjoys them, and he's honest: good shoe. Is it his favorite? No. Is that insight helpful for people curious about the new model? Absolutely.

Loved watching Spanky's skating but that video felt a bit forced and awkward. What's most telling to me is what Ben actually buys when he has to spend his own money.

$95 retail if the basic quality is there the price point is lower than Asics and same level of midsole tech. I think if they hadn't done contrast stitching I'd like them more and a navy leather pair would be sick kinda like the Wino Slip Cup from a few years back. Emerica is doing more the last year than they did the prior 5 it seems. Slip Cups were great but not that the G6 midsole is gone.

I had the feeling that Ben didn't want to say negative things about the shoe in his little review at the end out of respect for the guy.
But thats just my interpretation.

Why do I feel like the same people critiquing others for supporting Emerica are the same people with stickers of anime girls on all the windows of their cars?

I don't own a car, sorry to hurt your feelings. Just wanted to see if that DarkPools guy still gets easily triggered when someone calls him out on his massive boner for soletech.
Had an account a few months ago and it was even worse then. As soon as someone just mentioned something soletech the fanboy crept around the corner to the defense with absolutely wild claims like "same quality as NB" etc.
Just funny to me. :)

I don't think Ben held back. If he was getting paid to be nice he would have offered a lot more detailed praise than he did. I think his review was pretty honest and he said things like "pretty good" and that it wasn't his "all time favorite but really good".

I review a lot of product as part of my job and I can guarantee that I wouldn't say these things about half of what I review. The things I review are more technical, but there are lots of cases where we are fairly clear when we find a product sub-optimal.

The shitting on Emerica is a bit tired. Be happy they're not pulling a Lakai under new owners and have a much more interesting team than the other brands. The KSL III is an improvement over the last shoe and a step in the right direction from basically having the same vulc variants for 5 years.

I don’t condone the pigeonholing of skateboarding to one niche aspect. I completely understand why NB, Sci-fi Fantasy, Nike, Hardbody, and Limousine are at the top of the charts. I truly do. But, I do think there is a place for companies like Emerica to coexist in our ecosystem. I think it’s healthy. Even if the tired trope of Emerica being just stoner rock burnouts with 1 silhouette of a shoe were true, there is room for that. Personally, I’m not the person to buy blazers or 1010s, but I will cop the Spanly High when I see it on a shop wall. Emerica makes a great product, and they have for decades.

You do you. The last shoe i got from Emerica was the Gamma, and it was really sub-par to the quality of many other brands, even core. But as i said the KSL3 looks okay, one step in the right direction. Still not enough for that kinda hype.
And just fyi i can't even remember when was the last time i saw Emerica on someones feet here in my country.

made an account to chime in and say the emerica gamma were among the lowest quality shoes I've ever owned, as well as the marana michelin and the eS accel that I owned for a hot second. soletech quality is garbage and I would rather buy warsaw than anything soletech makes. even my pair of vans OTW that fell apart in a week felt better than the uncomfortable and awkward gamma which were not shaped for human feet.

2nd Warsaw quality is nice, but also can vouch that the quality is noticably dipping as the years go by like any company that keeps getting tossed around new owners

Those emerica gamma were a definite miss! Potato shape on a weird sole.  The G6 sole version (Julian Davidson) were far better in comparison. They felt wrong so I don't blame anyone not keen on Emerica if those were the main ones you experienced.

Marana Michelin is probably etnies best shoe. I find it odd anyone would call those garbage, but maybe it's more that certain people just didn't like them/it's not built for their preferences, rather than the quality being bad. It's one of their best designed (material-wise) and best selling models. Their flagship, like Dunk for Nike or 306/1010 for NB#. Those Michelin soles are some of the grippiest/most durable out and the suede is usually quality. I've skated at least 8 pairs and they all lasted 3 months minimum of near daily skating.

I've pivoted to skating Dunks and Accels (OG and '95) for a little while. May try these KSL 3 soon

I really liked the michelin maranas, learned tre flips and backside 5050s in them and they lasted forever. But I paid full retail price for mine and the laces were those generic cheap white laces. Disappointed that they weren't higher quality or even color matched considering the $109.99 price tag. Most of the colorways on the website have matched laces but they're still those cheap thin ones. I had the burgundy upper with white sole colorway. The josl1n michelin was much better imo but they don't make them anymore sadly.

Miss the Reynolds G6 and Herman G6 those were staples in my teens :( got a pair of Romero laced on sale over the summer out of nostalgia and accepted that model is just too uncomfortable for me to wear anymore. Which is a shame since that was the most sought after shoe in my city when it released and I had multiple pairs. Even did a diy plasti-dip toe cap on a black denim/black sole pair I found at Ross years ago. Made a stencil for the toe cap and taped the rest of the upper off, came out great and definitely made it last longer haha

May try these KSL 3 soon
soletech uses synth suede which is among the worst materials I've ever felt on a shoe. not breathable as well. the sole might be fine but even the laces were really low quality. they don't compare to anything anyone else is putting out at that price point
