i know that a lot of skate shoes took heavy inspiration from other sneakers and i can appreciate a nice shoe but i don't think i view them in the same way sneakerheads do, like a foamposite in galaxy print doesn't look cool to me no matter how rare. i mostly associate "sneaker culture" with hypebeasts and collectors, which is not my thing. i was skating dunks before so it's not even like i'm on some core crusade, i simply got tired of the swoosh, was looking for something different, had es in the back of my head because aimu made them look good and they turned out to work really well for me. i'm pretty ambivalent towards the brand but a good shoe is a good shoe and that's all there is to it.
now as far as nb goes, my feelings about the brand's direction and general image are too strong to be changed by simply putting somebody on. they could get trapasso out of retirement and make him film a 10 minute banger-only part, i'd be watching that shit like crazy with them accels still hugging my feet. i'm 25, i'm immune to their marketing, i don't really care what reynolds has to say in a hour long interview about a fucking skate shoe, like i grew up on his skating but unfortunately the mf is a tough listen. i like tiago's skating, but his shoes are ugly. i don't care for tom knox. the 480 is a worse looking dunk, i think outside of skating it's an older design than a dunk but nike did it better. the 306 and 272 both look like like some 2012 etnies with Ns on the side. like the shoes might be durable or something but they're OK designs at their best and they do some of the most random and mismatched colorways. and the craziest part is that there's a bunch of 40 somethings here GLAZING the nb designers whenever they log on.
yall remember when china banned the letter N? they had the right idea.
