i was looking into buying es sophistos because aimu looked cool in them, but then he quit for NB and i avoid the brand so i got the es shoes anyway, but a different model. i think a lot of people love him, but he has an unlucky set of sponsors, primitive is wack, nb only cool in that little thread in shoes & gear, i don't even know what homeboy is

Dissing NB# while admitting to buying éS. Do you prefer poorly made shoes from a company that doesn’t take good care of their riders?

i simply don't want to wear new balances, i think they're corny, i don't like their logo, i don't like their image, i don't like how the shoes look, i don't like their banner ads, i didn't like the 933 roll out, i don't like how they pretty much only sell their skate shoes through their own mall stores here, i don't like how they had no cultural ties with skateboarding at all before they forced their way into it, like they don't have a j1, a clyde or a shell toe with actual history in the sport. as far as supporting riders goes - all sole tech brands have teams in my country and nb sponsors one person. i don't really relate to their us team. good skaters, but not skaters i actively follow. i'm not going to go out of my way and pay a lot more for shoes just to give 2 bucks to jamie foy. sure, he rips, i'm impressed, but his skating doesn't really move me.

also these poorly made shoes already outlasted every pair of sb dunks i've skated this year and they probably got a couple more weeks left. and i've gotten a bunch of compliments on them and shit, my gf likes them too, they're awesome, great shoes :)

Borrics should've been editing their games of skate like this.
Fun, fast paced & still plenty of drama; no need for all that filler.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me… You think you got me?

Kinda agree with the gentleman who’s GF likes his Es shoes. This dude looks weird in NB, those 933s are so bad HE can’t even make them look cool. New balance IS corny af and they are extremely lucky to have Tiago. Must be paying him a fortune or he’s just fried. Shit at this point I only skate in non-skate shoes but if I had to choose between Es and NB I would go with Es. I’m saying this as someone who was flowed direct for NB for a little bit, every pair of 1010s/808s I had fit different and 440s fucked my Achilles up. All these old head NB stans who skate curbs and bought those 933s probably never switched flipped before in their lives lol Idk I’m ranting cause I’m in the ER with my abuela and this typing shit is helping with my anxiety. Anyway, I liked aimu’s clips in Es shoes a little more TBH

nah i'm straight up buying es shoes, they're cheap and i like them a lot. it's really funny to me that wearing skate shoes is frowned upon among many of the 40 pluses on this skateboard forum, gets me even more stoked to wear them tbh. i mean shit made you so confused that you had to post twice about it lol

Just stop, I’ve been a massive sole tech fan for for like 3 decades but eS dropped the ball on him and now they must live with their silly mistake.
Dude deserves great sponsors and NB has always been a massively poplar brand in Japan (and not just for boutique sneaker heads). If you are denying their influence on sneaker culture and/ or condemning all of their design to the dad shoe genre, you certainly don’t know what you are talking about …
Let this boy shine and get paid while he’s doing it!!!

i'm not too worried about "sneaker culture", i like shoes but that sounds like some kook shit. those are my first 2 pairs of sole tech shoes that i paid for in about 10 years. i got etnies and emericas for free before and i was either selling or giving them away because i didn't like how they looked or felt. accels are working for me though, i really enjoy skating in them. i'll still watch aimu's stuff but i already hate the brands that he's riding for and it's not gonna change, nb could fund and build a 1:1 replica of love park in my city and i'd pull up to the opening in these accels i just bought

Not to get too deep into it but sneaker culture has ALWAYS been part of skate culture and vice-versa; designs don’t just appear out of thin air, they take inspiration from shoes that already exist.
I’ve got a pair of emerica spanky G6 on ice to skate and my regular walking shoes are v990s so I’m happy to embrace it all. Even if you aren’t, you still have to concede that eS fucked up massively by losing him and they have no one to blame but themselves; it’s not like NB poached him, they waited until he was a free agent…

i know that a lot of skate shoes took heavy inspiration from other sneakers and i can appreciate a nice shoe but i don't think i view them in the same way sneakerheads do, like a foamposite in galaxy print doesn't look cool to me no matter how rare. i mostly associate "sneaker culture" with hypebeasts and collectors, which is not my thing. i was skating dunks before so it's not even like i'm on some core crusade, i simply got tired of the swoosh, was looking for something different, had es in the back of my head because aimu made them look good and they turned out to work really well for me. i'm pretty ambivalent towards the brand but a good shoe is a good shoe and that's all there is to it.

now as far as nb goes, my feelings about the brand's direction and general image are too strong to be changed by simply putting somebody on. they could get trapasso out of retirement and make him film a 10 minute banger-only part, i'd be watching that shit like crazy with them accels still hugging my feet. i'm 25, i'm immune to their marketing, i don't really care what reynolds has to say in a hour long interview about a fucking skate shoe, like i grew up on his skating but unfortunately the mf is a tough listen. i like tiago's skating, but his shoes are ugly. i don't care for tom knox. the 480 is a worse looking dunk, i think outside of skating it's an older design than a dunk but nike did it better. the 306 and 272 both look like like some 2012 etnies with Ns on the side. like the shoes might be durable or something but they're OK designs at their best and they do some of the most random and mismatched colorways. and the craziest part is that there's a bunch of 40 somethings here GLAZING the nb designers whenever they log on.

This reminds me of old BATB vids when people would play against Luan.
They'd go out and do a trick and it'd be...fine...then Luan would come blasting out at 23mph and pop the trick waist high and I always thought the other guy must be thinking "come on, man...why you gotta do me like that"

If laughter is the best medicine Aimu is going to live for 1,000 years.
If I could pop kickflips like that, I'd be smiling all the time too.

The visual time from catch to landing from both of them is just other worldly. True video game stuff. The way they skateboard and the way we skateboard are not the same thing .

Dude. I have no idea why you posted this part here, but thank you. I forgot this existed. Used to be my favorite part, because he was around the same age as me. Made me get into The Cure as well (well, him and Spanky), which finally led to me being cooler than my older brother for the first time in my life (loser still was into Oasis).

I know there’s been primitive going under rumors but I’m starting to see thank you primitive posts- who scoops up aimu?

all i saw was roman lisivka's and marcus shaw's posts in connection to starting "metronome" as a board brand- lisivka wasn't really presented through any primitive social media or so for quite a few years at that point though. not sure if he still was on the team page. shaw was quite the same i feel like- kinda under the radar.

but you are right now that i think of it: pretty much all primitive euro riders are gone

jakinda to heated wheel
marek been of for a while
shaw and lisivka metronome skateboards
charlie munro and jb gillet also gone, right?

i don't see primitive going under and cutting euro riders seems to be pretty common unfortunately
