LMAO. Mad at candles and acting like I did something wrong by sitting there listening to a story presented in a comedic context and periodically laughing with everybody in the room as it was being told 9 years ago. That's all you can come up with to try and disparage me and get some more fake Brink outrage going here? Eat a dick, loser.

And if you want to sit here questioning me some more, consider that we may have just left this story in the episode for a reason?

That said, it's challenging for me to come here and engage in any discourse—pleasant or unpleasant—because the moderators pick and choose what they will approve from me. Much of what I have tried to reply to over the last year or so is declined.

And whatever, it's fine. But there's no way for me to have a normal interaction here anymore. If they are kind enough to at least approve this one, please know that anyone is welcome to contact me via my IG DMs about anything they like. But if I am not interacting or replying here when addressed, that is the reason why.

Maybe I'll hit up Christine for a chat on the new show. Thanks to whomever tagged me. It's cute how you guys still think of me.

I don’t know who you are or anything about the lore behind you but wtf did you do to get restricted? What’s this about candles? I wonder how much shit I’ve missed not being on slap until recently. Oh well. Fuck Chris Cole.

Like BRINK alludes to, this is one of the most ban happy echo chambers. Just go through some old threads and like half of the posters are banned. Mods are on the same wavelength as any far left / far right subreddit that restricts any dissenting opinion to ensure conformity.

Again, BRINK says: "there's no way for me to have a normal interaction here anymore."

I don't follow the board as much as I used to and that's one of the reasons why. We have people spam posting scat porn for days and other dudes get banned for one political opinion post.

No free speech here if you get on the wrong side of a mod apparently.

Also Lee Dupont is a creepy scumbag in that interview, what an embarrassment.

I'd ban people for derailing a thread to talk about sandwiches.   If you don't like a subject, go to another one.  Not every discussion has to be about something you like or approve of.

Yes, this place is a lot more boring and lifeless than in the past. A lot less fun, but it has little to nothing to do with the mods.

Most of the posters that are banned here are deserving of their bans.

Ofcourse, that has little to do with the topic of discussion here.
Do you get deja vu, huh?

Yeah everyone keep it on topic. Its not about his stupid hair and awful style.

It's about the abuse he inflicted.

And let's not forget his stupid hair and awful style.

Do you guys honestly think jamie is gonna say something about this before chris? Neither of them are, it’s been out there for years and they’re just gonna keep ignoring it
Jamie commenting on another man's spousal abuse accusations, when it hasn't been proven,  could probably put him in some legal trouble, no???  Especially if he decides to essentially fire him from his job.   I can't stand Cole,  and I'm sure he's a piece of shit,  but expecting a written response from Jamie on this seems unrealistic.

@BRINK I know you said you are not replying here when addressed, but I'd just like to say I think it could be a great idea if Christine was interested in chatting on your show. Respect for that.

If felt she felt that way inclined, it could be a powerful platform for her to share her experience and shed some much needed light on some of these issues that are all too prevalent. That may go a long way in helping others in a similar situation.

My friend got banned for saying in a pre-existing political discussion “in the left/right mirage of two party politics it’s two heads of the same monster, at the very top they work for the same people” got banned for “anti semitism”  talk about presumptuous etc. weird stuff.

https://imgur.com/a/21vcnfW

Ps. Please don’t ban me

I mean... I don't necessarily agree with the ban but that's literally from the playbook of nazis and anti semites.

Funny how you picked this comment instead of the five above it complaining they can't unleash their bigotry and hatred without consequence. "Free speech" idiocracy version.

Also lol at the smartypants constructing arguments about expecting Jamie to respond. Nobody is expecting that. It's about Jamie being uncomfortable enough to fire Cole's ass and end his career. Same as it ever was.

This is a really bad take.

And, if you are going attach your cart to Brunk's horse you are making a big mistake. His moderation appears to have absolutely nothing to do with his politics or his values. Instead, it seems to stem from his manner of interacting with others: his insistence on responding to every comment in a thread, digging in and always escalating every discussion, always playing the victim, being easily offended, and not understanding the difference between banter and insults. He doesn't understand the rules of the playground and then escalates things well outside the bounds of a normal discussion.

Debate is welcomed over certain topics. Disagreement certainly happens all the time. I don't think @OldieButFrenchie and I agree all that often. And I think @SneakySecrets and I usually disagree on basically everything. The difference is we rarely toss out insults nor do we frantically respond to every post. (This isn't to say none of us have crossed the line here and there, but we don't do so on a consistent basis.) And, weird, despite our disagreements none of us have been banned.

And, yea, mods banning over homophobic or transphobic or racist or misogynist slurs and petty insults is completely fine. None of these behaviors represent a "normal" interaction.

Now stop trying to derail the thread with this nonsense. The thread is about Chris Cole's behavior and the Taylors enjoying spousal abuse stories.

You made a mistake in that interview nine years ago. Of course, there's the benefit of hindsight now that makes that mistake bigger and uglier. Plus, you're human, you were far from the only one who's reaction to Christine's story was pretty weak/poor at that time, and that one moment in the Weekend Buzz episode (and your role in it) is not what this awful and unjust chapter in Christine's life hinges on entirely.

Having said that, your reaction here now doesn't do your case a lot of good. First, don't try to pull that 'maybe we left that story in the episode for a reason...' bullshit. You didn't. You left it in for no other reason than that you thought it was just another funny, light-hearted story that fit the show. Don't embarass yourself. Second, don't try to pretend that you're thinking about inviting Christine to your show out of kindheartedness and the wish to maybe right some wrongs. You might be thinking about it, but only as a (disturbingly amoral) way to gain some much-needed traction for your show that has suddenly presented itself in all this. If you want to (mis)use this whole thing to raise the profile of your show, why not leave Christine alone entirely, and instead invite Cole to tell him to 'eat a dick, loser'.

I hate to defend Brunk of all people and I don't want this thread to be about him, but the interview was a promotional fluff piece that took a very unexpected turn. Brunk and Lee were in no way trained for this situation. My impression is that they were both horrified and had no idea how to react or what to do.

And, let's say Brunk confronted her and said, "No, that is abuse." How would have Christine reacted? She is on camera, she is there to promote her abuser, and is told in front of everyone that she just described an abusive relationship. Jesus, that probably would have been horrifying for her. I can only imagine the fear of being cornered publicly about the abuse coupled with realization that she has exposed Jame's as an abuser to the skate world, which will likely result in his wrath.

After this interview ended this is when someone should have pulled Christine aside and offered a few words of support and a number to a crisis hotline or something. Any off-camera support that didn't make her feel trapped or cornered is what was needed.

I don't know why Burnk decided to keep this in the published video but as rude, degrading, and mean as Brunk is on SLAP, he does not appear to be enjoying her story. My reading of the video is that everyone but Taylor's wife seemed horrified but played along in the moment just so it could end as quickly as possible.

I feel Goffman's work on Presentation of Self in Everyday Life offers a lot of insight on these situations and explains Brunk's and Lee's reactions in the moment. Although, Goffman's work offers no insight on what Brunk and Lee did after the interview came to an end.
https://monoskop.org/images/1/19/Goffman_Erving_The_Presentation_of_Self_in_Everyday_Life.pdf

Edit: I just re-read Brunk's initial post, "acting like I did something wrong by sitting there listening to a story presented in a comedic context and periodically laughing with everybody in the room as it was being told 9 years ago."

His comment is overly defensive and unreflexive. All he had to say was, "I didn't know how to react," "at the time I didn't fully realize the full significance of this story," or "I didn't want to confront her on camera." I would have defended the shit out of any of these statements as they are human and understandable. What he posted is not human or understandable, except if we view it from the perspective of "everything is always about me."

"Maybe I'll hit up Christine for a chat on the new show." Please don't. Please leave this woman alone. Dragging her on camera for some sensationalistic tell all on Brunk 2.0 sounds awful.
