People should skate their age. It’s sad seeing someone over 35 trying to huck themselves down stairs or struggle to skate some giant ledge. I believe you should skate for as long as physically possible but it’s weird watching an older guy try to skate like a 20 year old. I’m not saying you’re restricted to curbs or bowls but just keep it tasteful and realistic.
[close]
can we get some official guides on how each age skates? i'm turning 34 in a month and i'd hate to embarrass myself by trying a trick that's "beyond" my age bracket
[close]

If you can’t jump up it, don’t jump down it.

This jumps itself back on top of the list of stupidest shit I've ever heard every time I hear it.

Yeah... wut? Why are we asking people to hold themselves back? Only one way to get clipz...

Plus who can jump up anything above like a 8 stair? I think it's kinda depressing that @fried later was watching someone else try a hard trick and getting embarassed for them... go get ur trix bro!

I heard Ali Boulala actually jumped up Lyon 25 before hurling himself down there.

Most mega ramp tricks were done using Soap shoes before they even thought about setting up a board to try it.

Solid FS5050 on a low ledge > Throwing a bigflip noseslide for hours that has a 1% chance of actual sticking, much less landing

There's this guy I see around here who exclusively tries psycho flip-in tricks on ledges and rails without coming even remotely close. He does it for hours, and every time he doesn't magically land one he sorta like studies the spot and shakes his head as if it's some kind of anamoly. I don't really care how good someone is or isn't, but it baffles me how much he'll do this. I see him fairly often, and I have literally never seen him land a trick. Not even a flatground kickflip in between tries, or a warm-up 5050 on the same ledge he expects to kickflip back noseblunt. I probably wouldn't pay much mind to him if he seemed to be enjoying himself even a tiny bit, but he seems absolutely miserable every time.

He’s probably writing on Reddit, 'There's this guy at my skatepark who gets annoyed every time he sees me do impossible tricks. I mess them up on purpose just to see him suffer’.

I don’t care about what anybody else is trying at a skatepark or whether they are skilled or not. I get no feelings about it either way, it’s weird that people care or feel second hand embarrassment

I had a friend like this when I was a kid. We skated together for like 3-4 years. Worst board control I have ever seen. Dude could barely keep it together enough to Ollie up a curb but had insane pop and would fling out 360 flips and nollie hards like thigh high for hours and never land one. Seriously the only trick I remember him landing was a krooked grind on a flat bar we had and it was a complete fluke. He never got close before or after that one attempt. I skated with him one time about 6-7 years ago. He hadn’t been on a board in like 15 years at this point. We went to the local park and the first thing he tried was a hard flip up the Euro gap that he would have landed if it flipped the whole way. Didn’t land a single trick the whole session.

Whether you like a part you’re watching for the first time depends

20% on your current mood
20% on the editing
20% on the Song
20% on your bias towards the brand/skater

And only 20% on the actual dude skating/tricks he does.

Hot take!
