Your entire diatribe comes down to just this. There's validity in what you're saying, but there's also validity in the status quo on this one. The thing with nollie tricks is that a) yeah, in respect to which feet are doing what, you're doing a switch trick riding backwards, however b) you are a literally riding your board in your regular stance. There's genuinely no perfect solution to your backside/frontside dilemma.

For the record, trick name talk is not what I'm usually about either, and IRL it's always insufferable, but cruising a messageboard with 20 minutes to kill and in the right mood, it's fine.

I never write in these things but my biggest gripe with terminology is that nollie rotation is incorrectly named which then in turn fucks fakie terminology, so badly. The concept of nollie just being regular stance off the nose is so psychotically incorrect, I loathe it. Nollie is literally switch fakie, it’s not some unique or special stance just because you’re popping off the nose in regular stance; you’re popping switch going backwards.

The only possible option I think you could consider a stance as "riding backwards" would be Fakie. I mean relative to your regular stance it's that but rolling backwards.

Also on the half cab note, you don’t need to call it a fakie backside 180. Tricks are given the assumption that unless it’s stated frontside, everyone knows it’s backside. Call it a fakie 180. A half cab is a girl half cabs age. Full cab, same age as him.

Also the longer I skate the more I veer from trick terminology to "do thing here!". It's freeing. I guess it sometimes also helps with mental blocks regarding expectations on what you can do.

Fuck the no shorts thing. It’s 90+ degrees and 70+% humidity here everyday in the summer. I’m not trying to get heat stroke just so I can look like cool.
