Did a bjj basics course over the weekend and pondering if Im going to keep pushing it further or not. I'm kind of feeling it as a sport and would like learn more but the thing I did not like were the overly enthusiastic course mates who were rushing it way too hard and not focusing on learning the techniques that were taught to us (probablya very common thing among beginners). I had this one guy as my pair, I was on guard and he was charging like a bull trying to get on me but ended up under me and I managed to tire him out pretty fast and he gave up (did not tap but said his over it).

I think BJJ sounds fun but I’ve also read horror stories about people getting serious injuries from over enthusiastic/psycho sparring partners and that would piss me off beyond anything.

I’ve gotten injured a shit ton of times skating but the two times it’s been someone else’s fault (collisions) were infuriating.

Drove 5 hours to see the total eclipse with my daughter. Paid dumb amount for a two night minimum hotel. Saw clouds.

We had a pretty great time and she was overwhelmingly positive about the whole adventure.

Totality was an otherworldly experience but I’m still feeling cosmic levels of disappointment at not getting a fleeting glimpse of full coverage - an event I might not even live to see again. I also worry I did retinal damage staring at 96% coverage for 10 seconds (through wispy clouds) because I couldn’t see shit with the glasses.

Ultimately a positive experience with a healthy serving of existential dismay.

Yup, this. I decided and went to the gym three times. Not really my thing after all. I have hard time combining my personal life and the training schedules plus Im not really fan of the more competitive training partners. My left shoulder got a bit messed already from this one guy trying a lock on it and even if tapped it early I felt pain and now internal rotation is limited and hurts.

I’ve been asked by a few people over the last year to take this open apartment in my old neighborhood. My friend lived in it. Another lives next door. It’s fairly inexpensive.

But I don’t own a vehicle and right now I walk to work. I like it. I want a vehicle for other this stuff, and this year I can finally afford one without it breaking me or my savings.

So the landlord wants to sell me his brother’s pickup. We are trying to coordinate a test drive. But then it hit me that he might want me to take the apartment if I take the pickup, because then the commute won’t be as much of an issue.

He’s not a guilt-tripping guy like that, so it might be my creative thinking at play here. I just wish I hadn’t thought it. I kinda need my privacy right now & I have that where I live.

Short commute = best life. (Unless you skate commute down a long, smooth, mellow hill...)

Someone finally returned my lost wallet after 6 days. Unfortunately, I already paid services BC $75 to start the hoop-jumping process of replacing everything with only a birth certificate to prove my identity. I even made a doctor's appointment so he could sign some form saying he's known me for over 6 months and that I am who I say I am.  This brief story's moral is don't keep all your picture ID in one place.

The guy said he was trying to find me on facebook and whatnot but he could have just come to the address on all my cards first... Oh well. Thank you good samaritan either way.

Six days is too long with no contact! Sucky situation for you, man. Sorry to hear. Was the whole wallet intact? Even when I’ve misplaced my wallet temporarily in my apartment I’ve panicked.

I walked a wallet to a front door step once. Do unto others (for this specific situation, a least)..

I keep my hair fairly long and then chop some inches off a couple times a year. I wear a hat most seconds of the day.

My friend has cut it for me for free the last four years. Well, she moved awhile back and I visited her yesterday. She took some serious liberties and cut over a foot off without warning!

I was flabbergasted, then bummed, and now I’m just gonna shave what I have left. I’ve always wanted to just never have.

I don’t wanna go back to work and have the conversation with forty-five people. But it’s inevitable.

I don't wanna give you any ideas. But I personally would rather find another job instead of hearing "hey, your hair looks so short now, what did happen?" 45 times.

I got super into this for like 2 weeks and then had some giant guy sprawl on my neck when i tried a take down. My scalp has been numb for a month, which is a bummer cos it's mad fun. in this case i was the over enthusiastic one

Update! I wore my hood up for two straight days and only showed two people. Today people were catching on and it was all positive. One flat out shocked face, but from a coworker I hadn’t seen in months.

Ima be alright. Or I’ll wear a sandwich-board and take a temporary vow of silence.

I’m into it! I lost it at “dripiest fit.” It’s niche, but Slap is the perfect place for such specificity.

I mad some mistakes with my UF account that had real world consequences. There's no one on earth I'm trying to hurt. And I just gotta remember that I should go skate when I'm upset and not to log in for ventilation.

I thought about not coming back. But I love you cats. I want to continue to be in skatebloarding and I wanna slap forever.

Everything is good out here y'all

Skated Big-O in Montreal but did nothing but kickturns.

Went to Montreal but had to come home to Philly.

I'm in pain. Idk what to do. The lady on the first floor has taken to her to TOC to defame me and my other neighbors.

She's got clear footage of me and she's telling her thousands of followers ( I've heard I don't got tic TOC. I got screen recording of the video)

Things I will not give energy by repeating. My heart is smashed as I have zero way to defend my good name.

I won't tell housing. I won't be that person rabidly going after someone to make them homeless.

Housing is a right! Wtf. Instruct me. She's already said these lies in court under oath.

I'm like crying. I'm have the best years of my life. I don't understand what can I do?

I forgotten to say what I'm stoked on.

Someone is racing on crew 2 with one of my wraps! It has slap logos and this is so sick!

They kicked my ass tho. I was honking and going crazy tho. I wish I could thank them. Find out if they understand what the car means

my community is hosting the annual oregon country fair this weekend..
tens of thousands of people coming means way more traffic and virtually no internet
but we get free tickets, good food and live music, and since we're a 1/2 mile away possibly some extra cash with parking overflow

Got a weird spot removed from my face today. Glad I don't have to worry about potential skin cancer for now, but can't skate for a few days until everything heals.

Signed up for a physical therapy consultation and possible program to get me back to walking and skating comfortably again. It’s going to be a bite in my budget, but I’ll make it work one way or another. Being uninsured sure sucks complete dick and balls.

Found a yashica t4 online for 215 bucks. I got really hyped and hit up the seller and bought it out of impulse (i still think it’s a pretty good price considering most if not all of them sell for around double the price) always wanted one, but i also shouldn’t throw money like that since i gotta save some for a upcoming festival and a trip in about one-and-a-half month later on. So yeah stoked… but not stoked ::)

I mostly do my film shooting with a canon a-1. I don’t think i really needed this…. I’ll shoot a test roll once it arrives and hopefully all will be well otherwise that’ll be a pricy lesson :D

New local park just opened.
Lots of smaller obstacles.
Lots of bigger obstacles.
Zero intermediate obstacles that one would realistically need to progress from small to big.
How are we still getting poorly planned parks like this in 2024.
