Sucks that there's a massive missing spot on the flicking area. Years ago I tried to skate the Polar Air Trainers one and my flick was awful. Also sole lasted nothing. Hopefully you'll have a better experience.

Took a nice walk in the new TJ Rogers pro model.  They are really nice, best new sole tech release in a looooong time.  I was gonna skate em but my wife said they are too nice to destroy.  Guess I'll buy something else haha.

After heavy-ish 3 months I retired my brown 933.
I could have still squeezed a little life outta them but they served me more than well.

Got these on sale, haven't skated them yet, normally a vulc guy but getting older figured I'd try some cups. I've heard they don't hold up so well, guess we'll see.

Bought these a few years ago, wore em around to break em in, then put them in the closet and forgot about them. They're smaller than most shoes I buy, but are making me consider revisiting my "super snug" era.

Man I wish there was one more designer pass done on this shoe.    There’s so many little tweaks I’d like to make just so it’s more symmetrical

Yes, this shoe had potential. The coloways were all awful and the plastic materials were shit. With a few more round of redesigning it would be an amazing shoe.

Not true, I had some sick black (kinda asphalt) ones with electric pink runner toe. They were amazing.
Nike should rerelease them, I'd buy a bunch.

Top down has killed some very good shoes.   Adidas had an amazingly comfy shoe (miles silvas had an original colorway with red/white stripes and was black) but the look of the toe cap was so weird looking that it could only really be accepted in black

Symmetry in design is boring af IMO, at least in footwear, because your foot is not even symmetrical to start with. The asymmetry in it adds so much more flair and interest to the shoe.
I don't think it's a timeless design per se but so many bits are done so well and was so left field for that era of shoes that I really appreciate what it did and still go back to it to use as reference.
Combination of materials was quite fresh, suedes/synthetics/mesh/... All in the right spots and done masterfully.
Proportions on it are a bit dated but there's so much worse from that time (early 2010's) when the vamps were all gigantic and made a size 7 look like a 12, I would definitely still rock a pair today and not look out of place.
Also maybe my fav skate shoe ever performance wise, did my best skating with them. Honestly miss how comfortable they were, made every skate shoe feel inferior since.

For the nerds, cool design process recap:
https://www.coroflot.com/fabricio/NIKE-SB-Project-BA-Collection-201112

Also, the designer, Fabricio da Costa did some great stuff while at nike... He ended up designing the Zoom Fly SP which is one of the best shoes of the last 10 years IMO that made a huge shift on the performance and lifestyle running, everyone in the industry started bitting that formula.

Project BAs and Westgate G6 were so ahead of their time. Never got to own BAs but did skate a pair of Westgates and loved the runner toe flick on em and overall design. Best Emerica shoe IMO.

Really appreciate it!   I agree about the concept you raised about symmetry in design, it’s just the color blocking in the launch pair didnt thrill me with the top down look and considering most colorways had that concept, it bugged me.  I still wore them and bought several pairs I just always wished that toe panel came to the same eyelets on both sides.    Maybe in execution that would have looked weird and they did the right thing

Tbh there hasn't been any shoes ive been hyped about. Maybe the KSL 3 but thats it. That being said, do anyone have any shoe recommendations? I'm wearing the Cons Chuck Taylor All Stars and they skate incredible. Reminds me of a better Janoski, but my pair is at the end of their life. Ill skate anything for the most part except really beefy shoes and vans.

Picked up the Asics Skyhand OG.  I had been wanting this shoe for a while, but seeing a few people skate the initial purple/orange color way sealed the deal. The shoe is super similar to the Gino, just with a different toe shape. I personally am not a fan of the soccer toe aesthetic on the Leggerezza or in general. The sky hand also comes in better colors and suede. I'd love for them to make a skyhand pro, but probably because of how similar it is to the Leggerezza, they won't for at least while if ever.

Not the proper footwear for a trip like this by any means but they really surprised me.
