They were hot shit for a minute huh?
Saw them live twice, it was basically the same both times but they were kinda tight live.
First and second albums are actually pretty good.

The Strokes are really good. I like the solo project of Albert Hammond Jr. too.

Jesus Christ, the strokes suck too much dick. Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive music. What more needs to be said?

They dress/act a lot like the band "Television" from the 70's, which happens to be an amazing band.

i met Richard Hell in the east village some time ago, good day. just talked a little about this and that with big dog. it was a brief encounter, but i must say..his wife is a cougar. the whole time i was talking to him, i couldnt help but look her up. she made a comment about a vest i was wearing, and i fell in love. ah, she has this milky, soft skin tone. i mind buttfucked her, whether she knows it or not.

had to bump instead of starting a whole new thread. I love the Strokes and like most fans, am excited for the comeback to touring. I’ve been getting a lot of mixed reactions towards them making any music though, even with their newest EP kind of hitting their roots but still sounding slightly different. I just wanted others thoughts on them maybe coming out with one more album or just sticking with what they’ve got.
i like the tiny headed bear who says nice stuff to everyone.

they would have had a better sound if julian was less of a crooner/belter and more of a screecher/howler. they definitely have some catchy riffs and are tight musically. and it was nice they and other bands of that era cared a lot about their image and aesthetic when grunge and alt-rock had made it kind of uncool to worry about stuff like that. I’ll take thoughtfully stylish over frumpy and sloppy any day. anyway this video and song are pretty good.

I only know one Tokyo police club song from a pit crew video but maybe it’s time to give them a shot

I bought their first two albums when I was young, but lost interest in them after finding other bands that did the same kind of music, but better. Is this it has some decent songs and guitar playing, but I feel like them as a band are just boring. It's like you know they could rock if they just hit the fucking gas, but they're cruisin in the slow lane.

As far as early 2000's "Rock Revival" bands go, I'll take The Hives, The Libertines, The Arctic Monkeys, and even the fucking White Stripes over The Strokes.

yeah I wish they had unleashed their dogs more often too, like on this one:

listening to them brings back memories. that was actually a pretty fun time in the 2000s with all the hot hipster or indie or scenester girls or whatever you wanna call them. you’d go to an ironic dive bar and drink shitty beer and pine over them. I know they weren’t everyone’s type but I’ve always been into women like that. and all the dudes in tight clothes too of course. is it still like that if you go out drinking? I don’t go to bars where young people hang out so I have no idea. I guess the 90s and the mom and dad look and looser fits are more popular these days.

^ That's my favorite song of their's and it definitely rips. I graduated high school in 06, so I don't really have the same memories. The girls who were my age and had the style you're describing were few and far between and always had older boyfriends. And I grew up in the burbs, far away from any cool guy bars. The places I went when I finally could drink were mostly filled with rednecks. You had to go to the city to hear cool music. Our local spots were still rockin Foreigner and Rick Springfield on the regular.

That era of music is definitely nostalgic for me though. Reminds me of those days where you didn't need to make plans to have fun, you just did it every day.

Sounds pretty sick. Where are they from? I'm an uncultured american, so those letters look like hieroglyphics to me.

they usually dated older dudes in bands. or just dudes in bands. a vintage foreigner or rick springfield t-shirt would not have been out of place and maybe even one of their songs playing in the bar but kinda ironically. seattle back then had a lot of hipster girls who drank at the old cha cha lounge on pine street and some other bars whose names I forget. I have a terrible memory for details like that. there were a lot of active bands doing garage type stuff and I definitely learned a lot of music around that time. we would do the same unplanned show going and drinking. we all worked retail or some other service job and just hung out.
