Canada, been here a little while but only have a few days left. It's been a really good time. I'm going to have so many photos to sort through when I get back, which I both anticipate and dread.

Do any of you guys know how to organize your flickr page so that the first page just has a few larger photos?

Go to your photostream, scroll to the bottom and it'll say "Did you know you can change the layour of this page?" Click on that and it should have a lot of different options for you.

Other than arranging the photos in your sets, I don't think you can arrange your photostream unless you mess with the photo upload dates. I'm sure there's probably one of those flickr apps that can do something like that.

Woah, been slacking on posting. Life has been busy but here's a little bit of an update.

Did a shoot for Hobo With A Shotgun. We ended up putting coping on the Plague's coffin from the movie. Glad I can check off skating a coffin from my list of things to do.

i have a question,

for anyone who does photography professionally in here: how did you start off, like what were your first steps in getting paid to do something so fun?

Thanks a bunch dudes!

nice one bladical, always good to see new shit of yours, funilly enough though the one that sticks out for me is the very last one with the trees, just looks so peacefull but kinda spooky at the same time, what ISO was that shot on?

It was shot with my fm2n on HP5+, so ISO 400.

Man....that noseblunt photo looks so sick! You ever print your photos? I'd love to get one of that. That shit would look dope on some gloss photo paper. Make the colors pop out.

I definitely do prints! If you're really interested, I can get one made for you and send it out. Let me know what size you want (8x10, 8x12, etc).

Finknoos, I can only speak for the skateboard side of things, and as shitty as it may sound, it's all about who you know and making connections. As I shot more, I started to meet more and more people and started to submit my stuff to a few mags here in Canada (SBC, Color, Concrete). The first stuff you submit might not always be taken in, but it gives you a push to keep shooting and get better.  Travelling helps a lot to and throwing yourself into unfamiliar environments with new people usually yields rad photos and keeps things fresh. I'm stoked to be doing freelance writing and photos now, it'd be a dream to make a career out of skate photography. Maybe one day.

All in all, it's pretty universal as far as getting into it goes. You make more connections, gain more clients, word of mouth spreads and everyone is hyped. Ultimately, if your shit is good and you keep at it and are determined, someone is bound to notice.

Some old Holga pics.  Haven't shot/uploaded much in close to a year.

Didn't wind the film far enough along before taking the next shot.  Worked out better for it.   More of the same here if that's what you're into.

Yeah, they played at my university and I covered it for the newspaper. Definitely one of the most exciting shows I've ever shot.

^^^Thanks dude. I use a Nikon D90 and shot that with a 35mm 1.8G. I had him posted up on my stove which has good lighting for some light box type shots. Just hard to get him in a nice pose since he's always so fidgety.

For the Nikon digital guys, they are supposed to announce the D700 and D3S upgrades in August. Hopefully the D700 replacement will be up to par with the Canon Mark 2 or better and even if it does, the Canon Mark 3 comes out next year. But I have restored faith in Nikon since the last DSLR upgrade (D7000) was pretty damn good. I think that camera is beating Canon in the midrange department.

My parents bought this camera for me for my birthday:

http://www.digitalreview.ca/content/Sony-DSC-W570-Review.shtml

I don't know shit about digital cameras but the photos don't seem that high of resolution even though it has 16 megapixels. It's a little weird. Any ideas?
