^^^^Nice. What lenses are you using? I dig the forest and the edit.

thanks man!  most of it was shot with either a 50mm f1.4 or the 24-105 f4.  The forest one was with the 50mm

On another note, has anyone here tried (or own) a Ricoh GR ? I almost never shoot digital theses days and my D90 was gathering dust, so I sold it. However I'd like to have a good pocketable digital camera always at hand and this one seems perfect. Experience, thoughts ?

My friends band played with a band called Switchblade Scarlett, and the lead singer was an MTV Made coach. All I've got.

First of all I want to say this is one of my favorite threads on all of slap. Second, I'm trying to take my sister's polaroid camera off her hands or borrow it for an extended period of time, so hopefully I might have stuff to contribute to this thread at some point. For anyone else that has one, is the impossible project film worth it or should I just go for cheaper stuff?

I've actually heard nothing, but negative things about the Impossible Project film from people that have used it. I've never shot with it myself though so don't take my word for it.

Impossible films aren't that great. They are quite expensive (20? for 8shots) and colours are just bad. I don't know about the b&w though but because they cost so much I just don't feel like experimenting too much with them...

Do you know any cheaper stuff for polaroids ? I don't mind crap quality as long as it is dirt cheap.

anyone have any suggestions for what would be a good compact camera in a decent price range? i want something small that i can fit in a coat pocket or maybe my pants pocket, but something that still has manual settings. ive found some older model leicas (d-lux 3 and 4) on ebay that i might be able to pick up for cheap, depending on how the auction goes. id like something similar to that.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Canon S90 series is good. They have new ones from the S95, S100, S110 and the newest which is the S120. Really small, shoots RAW, pocketable, and has manual controls. Only thing I heard that really sucks is battery life, but just get an extra one. And from oldest to newest, there really isn't a whole lot difference aside from maybe the wifi.

thanks man. it looks like i can get the S110 new for around $250 which is a pretty good price. would that be a better deal than picking up a used leica d-lux from around the same price? i know leica tends to be one of the most expensive cameras, but thats about all i know. are they worth the money, or are you just paying for the name?

edit: nevermind. ive been looking stuff up about the S110 all day at work and i think im going to get one. my birthday is in a week and a half, so ill probably have a little cash i can put toward one. im stoked to start shooting again!

@Mooley : While you are there you should check the work of Sergio Larrain, he worked extensively in Valparaiso.

This being his most iconic photograph I think :

I have a fascination with how water looks in a long exposure and since I recently moved right by a river, I've been taking a lot more of these kind of pics. The way the water flows over certain rocks or the currents can make the look of the water vary so much. They're probably boring to a lot of people and I know little creek and river long exposure shots are done a ton, but I liked how this one turned out:

What ND filter are you using? I really need one of those crazy 9 stop ones. I got cheap one that is only good if the sun is going down.

Ha, thanks man!

I shot this with my new canon 70-200 zoom lens and when it arrived, it had an ND filter attached to it. I don't really know anything about filters but it says HOYA 67mm PL-CIR on the side. This shot was at 25 seconds I believe and without the filter, it would've been about 20. When the lighting allows for a one second shutter with no filter, I'll put it on and it bumps it to about 2.5 or 3 seconds.

I've seen those 9 stop ones and they look awesome. This one filter definitely won't allow for a long exposure during normal daylight hours so I would want to invest in some more or one of the 9 stop ones.
