What lens are you using? Were you the guy using the Sigma 35mm? The bokeh looks nice on those shots. I need to get a longer lens. My 24mm is just not getting those nice portrait bokeh shots unless I get up in people's faces.

I'm using a Canon 50mm f/1.4 with those shots. I've been eyeing the Sigma though.

get the sigma. seriously, it blows everything else in my bag out of the water, and i compared it to lots of lenses from friends on my 2 bodies.

heres one shot wide open on my 5d (mk1) pretty much unprocessed:

this and the 85mm are the only ones left in my bag now, along with the 8mm fish i use on my 7D.

really trying to safe the money for a 5dmk3 though, 2 more photo jobs and selling my 5d and 7d and i should be there.

also, please stop posting medium format shots, you guys. i am so close to the edge of getting one.

I have a few weddings coming up so I think after I get paid for those, I'm pulling the trigger on the Sigma. You should definitely get into medium format. I've been using the same Yashica Mat 124G for like 4 years now and have never had a problem with it. It cost me around $200 CLA'd, but I've seen them go for less than $100.

thanks for killing my bank account.
also, one thing to consider about the sigma 35mm: its a giant, heavy beast (for a fixed lens). i mean, i love that, its big, its heavy, it feels so damn good, but yeah, if you are used to small, pancake-like primes, you might be overwhelmed.

I actually like a good weight to a camera. I'll sometimes keep my 580EX flash on, even when I know I won't need it, just for the weight.

Here's some more recent shots:

It's amazing what photos can be produced with the right paired lens. I seen that 50mm on some cropped bodies and it would produce whatever photos but on a full frame, you get to see it's full power.

I am really on the fence with what I want to get next (plus no money). I want the 85mm 1.2 or even the 50mm 1.2. Both are going to break my bank account though.

There was a crazy storm tonight.  Had a damn near perfect view of it from my balcony.  I seriously almost always screw something up when I try and shoot a timelapse.  Today I got pretty lucky!

This is so awesome!

There was a pretty big fire in the town I live in tonight, and thankfully they got it under control, but the sky was looking pretty crazy. This was at an awesome brewery tucked into some industrial buildings and I thought the building looked cool with adventure spray painted on it.

Here's one from my Instagram.  Found a dead scorpion and a dead bee at work today, photographed them with my phone on a piece of paper, then post processed with Snapseed.

I also got a nice little shout out on this local publication yesterday.. (I'm #2)

Kind of lame but I like these from my instagram/phone:

Took a week long hiking and driving trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains, we also hit some spots which deserve national park status as well.
