Also, does anyone have any tips on diagnosing a speck that appears in my photos? It's there regardless of the lens I use.

Dust on sensor, should be visible during low f-stops (f11 to f22). If you confirm this is it, use the cameras dust shake function or by a blower and watch some youtube clip on how to use it.

Thanks, third one from that first post is an in camera multiple exposure. One of the images is from a Hieronymus Bosch painting, other two are a metal lampshade for texture and some random lights. Multiple exposures can definitely be a bit gimmicky but can be fun. I went to a Jerry Uelsmann lecture one time and realized the techniques used for darkroom combinations is pretty much the same as in camera, dark spaces can be filled later. I'm lazy though and like working fast so I don't line things up super well, they end up looking a little rough but I don't mind.

Shot an attempt at the world's largest pie fight last week. They didn't break the record, but it was damn fun shooting it.

Shot over the last two days. I don't usually shoot skate photos that often but I've been bringing the camera out for sessions lately. First two are different angles for a bs 360, I couldn't figure out an angle/timing combination that worked for the trick. He is goofy footed.

^^^^First two natural light or are you shooting with external stobes/flash? Crazy how dark your corners get but looks nice. And what's the deal with his left hand being hell of crazy looking.

Strobes on all. I used a little bit of color priority vignette but a lot of the dark corners seem to be from the old 20mm lens, i'll have to look at a shot of just the sky. The sun is above to the right of frame on those first two. Gonna have to check to make sure he doesn't have claw hands next time I see him, I didn't notice that when I saw that. My dad is missing fingers on both hands so maybe I'm just conditioned not to notice fucked up digits.

My dad is not that cool he was a cabinet maker and accidentally sawed off a couple fingers on each hand. I meant I probably see people with fucked up hands and never notice. I went back to check in lightroom, looks like two flashes hit that hand with different flash durations, likely one flash was on full power and had a longer duration and the two mixed strange. I was moving the setup around a lot trying different angles, usually I try to make sure if one is at full power it's used as a rim light and not to give detail.

For flashes a lot of skate photographers are rocking some really expensive gear. I use an old sunpak 622 and yongnuo Chinese cheap flashes. I also use radioslaves from yongnuo as well, less expensive and somehow more reliable than the older quantums I had before.

If you don't want to spend a lot and don't need a ton of power I like the yongnuo YN565EX flashes I have decent enough. I'm probably trying to find another sunpak 622 pretty soon. Have to sell some stuff on ebay first, old digital cameras don't go for shit, I think I can get more for the quick charger that went to my broken flashes than I could for my old Nikon D200 body.

I have a Yongnuo kit as well with 2 YONGNUO YN568 EX II and the yn-rf603 trigger but the flashes have built in receivers that are nice. I want to do some outdoor flash shooting but it seems you really need a strobe for it. I can always shoot at dusk but I sort of want the bright sun look. I really need to go out and shoot some stuff with it. I only use it indoors for the most part but it's hard lugging all that stuff around when you have no car.
