This is a really nice photo. I especially felt alot of emotion in this one. Almost the feeling of hopelessness. It encompasses what skate boarding is all about. Hanging out, even if you might be addicted to drugs, still having the time of your life. Just having no place to go and letting the whole world know "I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK!"
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villin..

a zenit was my first camera too. it's a shame that it didn't have a light meter.

the second to last picture is beautiful ... what kind of film did you use?

I use the cheapest standard film around. Those Fujicolor ones that cost like 3 bucks for a 24. I don't really want to invest in expensive film, since i'm such a novice. I've only shot 7 rolls of film, so i'm still learning and experementing. Maybe next year i'll try to get a better camera and then start trying out more B&W, provia and velvia films.

You know, what i find really interesting? Lomo. Does anyone have any experience with lomography?

I'm really not a fan of digital photography, but sometimes...

a friend on a photo forum has this snapper for sale...    a pretty inexpensive way to get into MF if anyone is interested.  plus it comes with a light meter thats worth at least $50 on its own.   let me know if youre interested

Went to the so-called russian market today. I went looking for some lenses and what did i find? Between old Soviet equipment lies the Korean made Vivitar 2000 flash. The guy said it was 20 bucks, but i bargained it for 15. I'm so syked! Works like a charm, too. Now i have to shoot my film full to see the results.

It's the same one, only the flash doesn't move:

Also found out that my grandpa has a Lubitel. I'll try to get some 120 film for it and try that out, too:

My thoughts against lomo bloging were perfectly expressed in that video.

" I really thought about what I was doing. With this I just stopped thinking, and started shooting everything."

I hate it.

that 3rd and army photo is sick. as well as the other ones too.
the bard wire one looks like Polaroid Time Zero film.
what kind of Camera are you using?

I only shoot Polaroid SX-70s and i have a Petri 35mm with no light meter. Still getting use to it.
would you rather hear "woo" from the omar salazar pack? i wouldn't. their "yeahs" are genuine, and cool. "yeah" has been the battle cry of skaters for as long as i can remember.

^^^^^^I am probably the unconventional photographer. I shoot with just a Canon Rebel XTi and use photoshop to do a lot of my edits with cropping and colors. I'd love to learn film but I graduated in graphic design and digital photography somewhat goes hand in hand. Thanks for the props.....but always feel like I am cheating but that is the way modern photography is.

that's a good way to show pictures. the combination with the light makes it.

how much did you pay for each picture on wood?

it was pretty cheap. ended up being about 10 bucks to print and laminate each, 12x16. (it was done in vietnam)

and im not sure whether its acid free. why? would that be a problem?

i think lomography (or lomo) is a style of photography, produced when using the old russian lomo camera.... holdga is a brand of lomo cameras, manufactured in china and resembles a toy camera, but can still be used to get the same type of shots....

you know, i couldnt stomach more than 1 minute of that little video, but generally i agree with warren / ghostbusters...

if you really want to do lomo / holga style stuff, why not just buy a good camera and then learn how to make your pictures look like the lomo / holga style?   filters, gels, cross-processing, pushing and pulling, double exposures, etc.   then you still have the option of taking good pictures when (or if) you want to.  some really, really good film cameras (whether 35mm or medium format) can be bought at such ridiculously cheap prices these days, that it doesnt make sense to spend money on a plastic piece of crap camera with which your results will always be more serendipitous (accidental) than intentional.   some of you dudes here have bought killer cameras in the last month or so; how are you finding it so far?

Agreed, to an extent.

Anyway, I'm enjoying my new MF rig.  I've only shot one roll so far (work and school are killing my free time) but i'm enjoying it and am already thinking about scoping out a new one that has a full 6x6 square.

im looking into lomo because im just way too lazy to learn all there is to the world of photography....  its something i really appreciate but can never bring myself to putting all the time and effort needed to take really amazing photographs....  if i can get something which takes great looking photos simply while giving me the chance to do little tweaks and experimentation, thats great, hence lomography....  plus getting into digital photography seems to be a very big investment (body, lens, lights, etc), and im not ready to put that kind of money into something im not sure i want to commit to fully....

maybe if i like film photography enough, maybe ill take up digital someday....  and nothing worse than having a thousand dollar digital camera stolen....

i agree, but disagree. lomo is going back to the beginnings, there is no need in hightech equipement. you don't have to take a light meter and or a 500 megapixel cam to take good pics. and yes, the accidental thing is something great. i mean, i love to have control of something to a certain degree (i use my canon slr only on manual), but what i learned by accident is not explained in any photo books ... i mean, the lomographic society is making prices for the cameras that are way too high. 200 bucks for a lomo lca, when you can buy a regular compact camera for 10 euros? hello? there is close to no difference.

in the end of the day, lomography is a good and interresting way to learn things about analog photography, but can be used on an advanced level as ben said.

i botched the development of three test rolls with my yashica, all of which were already overexposed. i need to get myself a good lightmeter. (but yes, ben, i fell in love with the camera as soon as i opened the box. even though its missing a lens cap and a functioning light meter, i love it. ahhhh!)

but this one came out perfect, and i think the fuckups made it look beautiful!
