pictures can pretty much lie. it was minus 10°C that day.

I love this shot so much.  It looks like one of those futuristic space sets designed in the late 70s.

And there's so much great stuff in this thread.  For people shooting medium format/35mm film, how do those film scanners work?  Do you work off negatives or slides?  And how can you get access to one if you're broke like me?

A friend of mine from work sold me a Rebel XT with extra lenses, filters, batteries, and other shit for so cheap that I won't even go into it. I know it's not the best camera, but for a guy jumping from point-and-shoot it's fucking perfect... the fact that there's so much you can control is amazing to me... DSLR versus Point/Shoot is like the difference between Photoshop and MS Paint. I've only had it for a few days, and I'm just struck by how much more I can work on the shot. Anyway, the pics below are my first DSLR pics and experiments at home, but before that, I want to say that the photos that have been getting posted are fucking phenomenal. I'm learning, and hope to get a portion of the skills that some of you cats have. Anyway:

Cactus at work:

State Capital from my building:

Long exposure... I set a lit cigarette way off to the left and let the smoke drift between the wheels and the lens to see what it would look like:

A bunch of random shit, super slow shutter, focused in on the watch:

This is a trip to me, as the colors are so damned true:

...and I guess anyone who gets a camera that lets you paint with light eventually does a few hundred of these:

YEAH! Hahaha.

These are some others from that same roll of black and white as my last post. Just around my neighborhood. The snow was from the blizzard we had last month.

Looks quite light to be calling it a blizzard, haha not that it matters. I dig the last one.
I finally got a couple rolls from December developed. The scans are really bad, I need to get my own. Click on them for the larger versions.

At least the snowed out skatepark is good for something from time to time. I really need to shoot more.

that was after it cleared up and had rained. We got about 20 inches in three days though. Pretty much shut Portland down.

Does anyone know what kind of cameras skate photographers use? I actually got the impression that a lot of them use Nikons like Morford and even Reda. I think Atiba uses Canons but I could be wrong.

Acosta shoots Nikon too..
would you rather hear "woo" from the omar salazar pack? i wouldn't. their "yeahs" are genuine, and cool. "yeah" has been the battle cry of skaters for as long as i can remember.

Al those great photos made me want to be a good photographer too. But I don't have the patience for electronica.

Here are some photos that I took and that I liked.

I dislocated my shoulder again so I have been scanning random shit all day. I don't think this forum will display them at full size, so if you have doubts about sharpness open them in their own windows.

i haven't shot a picture since a month, but i really have motivation since i know about my new baby. on the other hand, i read alot about studio photography and about films, so i'm kinda prepared for a proper use ...

do you have some favourite films? since i love doing cross process stuff i use the ct precisa often, but it's not available as a 120. i still have 2-3 kodak e100vs in my fridge that i gonna try out with the hasselblad at first, but they make a yellow skin color, which sucks. word on the street is that the kodak portra serie is the best negative stuff these days, but my pics look kind of bad without extreme colors.
from time to time i have a black and white film in my camera, but i always get good results with a holga, but never with a regular slr. only a t-max looks good, but since i'm a poor student it's hard to pay 8 bucks for a film.

i found this group on flickr considering cross process photography
http://www.flickr.com/groups/crossprocessing/discuss/72157605572296973/

do you people out there have new stuff?
