A friend of mine from work sold me a Rebel XT with extra lenses, filters, batteries, and other shit for so cheap that I won't even go into it. I know it's not the best camera, but for a guy jumping from point-and-shoot it's fucking perfect... the fact that there's so much you can control is amazing to me... DSLR versus Point/Shoot is like the difference between Photoshop and MS Paint. I've only had it for a few days, and I'm just struck by how much more I can work on the shot. Anyway, the pics below are my first DSLR pics and experiments at home, but before that, I want to say that the photos that have been getting posted are fucking phenomenal. I'm learning, and hope to get a portion of the skills that some of you cats have. Anyway:
Cactus at work:
State Capital from my building:
Long exposure... I set a lit cigarette way off to the left and let the smoke drift between the wheels and the lens to see what it would look like:
A bunch of random shit, super slow shutter, focused in on the watch:
This is a trip to me, as the colors are so damned true:
...and I guess anyone who gets a camera that lets you paint with light eventually does a few hundred of these:
