I hope you all re-watch the modus parts below. Did you ever think of the impact of this video? It's likely that the reason that Marc/Brian Anderson got on Chocolate/Girl was spending a lot of time w/ Mike Carroll while filming this video. What would Yeah Right have been w/o those two? Sure, sure, amazing still, but where the fuck would we be w/o those video parts?
MJ part in Modus...
0) first skate video/video part I ever saw apart from end-of-game Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1
1) no push line at 1:14, just jumps into position.
2) I used to pause skatevideo VHS tapes where I thought it would make a good photo, and I accidentally discovered that during the back tail at 1:24, it's not a camera flash, it's a single frame of the stencil or whatever it is thrown up on the garage door behind him.
3) bs nollie flip at 1:34 used to trip me out. I knew it flipped but it didn't look like it did
4) sw 180 manual bs 180 switch manual is the best trick ever done at that spot, hands down
5) ollie at 2:53
6) ollie at 2:49
7) I mentally channel points 5 & 6 & 8 and emulate at every opportunity
bs 5-0 at 3:23 is exactly how a bs 5-0 should look
9) non-popped fakie big spin and nollie bigspin in a line... that was kosher at the time, then wouldn't make it into a video for almost a decade, and is now again perfectly acceptable
can someone make me a avatar-able gif of said nollie flip 5-0 180 at 1:38? With or without the nosegrind preceding, both are radical options. Who else has done that trick? Lucas Puig did it in a video part, aside from that I can't think of another.
MC is my favorite (and potentially best) nollie flipper, bs 50-50er, switch flipper, bs smither, varial flipper, not the best nollie bs heelflipper, but did one of the nicest nollie bs heels ever, and The Carroll Hand is amazing.
Scott Johnston is the best 180 switch crooker of all time
Rick Howard is the nicest fakie 5-0er/fakie manualer ever
I'm absolutely wasted.
randomly,
the way the song starts on the back smith stomp, also, one of my favorite back smiths of all time. That along w/ MJ's back 5-0 in Modus are two examples of what I emulate when I go for those tricks. I sure as fuck are not doing nollie flip bs 5-0 180 outs, but if I did, I would think of MC's in modus, unfuckingreal
This dude's style was erratic and tic taced a bit much along w/ a somewhat odd trick selection, but I always dug it.
finally,
the swollie up the stairs to real quick jump into sw fs flip position @ 1:15ish is the bee's knees, not to mention the fs flip over the table earlier in the part is one of the finest fs flips over a table ever. Alex Olson does a mean one too
This post was way too long, and I could keep going 10x longer on miscellaneous video parts I had on VHS or downloaded off of Kazaa that I fucking love
