Wow those Howard decks went for mint. Probably 1 or 2 only in existence.

@SickBurnDude was looking for Firm boards a while back. A bunch just went up for sale on Facebook for not too much.

Tried to quote from the previous page but screwed it up. Damn I had this Andy Howell deck in the old days and liked it a lot. New Deal was great then. Surprised to see the person who had this one put a skid plate on it. This was 1990/91 and I didn’t know a single person using a skid plate in those days.

I love all these all boards, genuinely stoked on them and would pay good money to own a lot of them…

Though I have been thinking at some point their value will just crash, as collector's get older… will there still be a market? Younger folk won’t care or know what these decks are about. Are these going to get passed down in the owners last requests or will there be a rush to sell them off, whilst some people are still interested and remember who that rider actually was?

Just something I was pondering, I am quite happy owning worthless NOS deck, the day I depart. Just wondering if collecting had a limited time frame. Or will the lore of these decks get passed down and their value continues? Will skateboards become antiques?

I know it’s a way off yet…

Are the starting bids really high for some of those? If it's not super high prices due to a bidding war some of those sellers must have gotten lucky that a collector willing to pay that price was looking when they put it up for sale.

Different thing, but I recently noticed that resale value of brand new skateboards has tanked. I was looking at skate shop prices where I'm at now, in Barcelona, and shops are selling for 70+ euros for decks. Then I checked on vinted and people are trying to sell those same decks, brand new, for 20 euros. My guess is that if you buy a board and decide you don't want it there aren't many "normal" buyers looking to buy a deck so you have to really mark it down to get something back.

On one hand, I think it's inevitable that prices will fall as collector's get older. Skateboard collecting is too closely tied to childhood nostalgia for this not to be the case.  On the other hand, some of these boards are so incredibly scarce that you don't need many people collecting them for their value to remain high. Even if there are only 30 collector's on earth, they'll still be fighting over the small number of Kelch Flyer boards in existence.

No one knows. Just depends if collecting boards mirrors collecting other sports memorabillia, like say baseball cards, where age/nostalgia doesn't seem to matter. Never be another Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle (sorry, not even sure those are the right guys...dunno shit about baseball), just like they'll never be another Blender, Natas, or Gonz.

Whats the policy on here, only posting finished auctions? Finding some nice stuff here in Europe but I'm not a real collector so will probably never buy any of them
