Haven’t watched this yet but it’s some post-volcanic material. I know Gnu/Lib Tech snowboards use(d) the material in construction dating back at least ten years.

Not to state the obvious, but if it lasts longer than two boards, it’s worth it

In the 80s we had Boneite. It wasn't good.

I briefly tried one of these dbx boards that was three months old, razor tailed like a mf, had to be regripped, looked dusty as hell... pop still felt and sounded brand new.

basalt is brittle, not sure how it would hold up to chipping or snapping. But as far as retaining pop, it really seems to work.

My biggest concern is if they are too strong like those carbon boards where instead of a board breaking you break yourself

In this economy?!?!

Also I chip boards more often than break. So I don’t know if this is for me. I need some anti chip boards

Notably there have been no advancements in materials science over the past forty years.

Are they opening their own OEM or BBS is giving them exclusivity for this technology?

I dont think so, I've heard of a few cases of them still snapping. So definitely not indestructible, though probably stronger

I find interesting dlx would go this route vs finding affordable decks and hopefully making something less expensive.
People scoff at 80+ VX decks, and while they are better, most people just simply do not have the money, and if like stated they still l break it would seem that it's still not a major improvement.

would be curious for a review by a reputable source.

My mate had a metal deck back in the day and the edge around the nose and tail were plastic and replaceable. Can't remember the brand but it weighed a ton and he would get the worst shinners

My local received a batch and each of their 3 employees that tried one broke it within a week (these dudes break a lot of decks normally and one tested a deck in lieu of his pro deck). They might be more immune to chipping and razor tail, but aren't completely indestructible. The shop owner doesn't want to bring that many in since they're worried that a lot of parents will buy them for their kids, the deck ends up broken, then the parent is pissed the shop pushed a more durable deck on them. True fit price points make more sense from a market perspective.

It’s like these premium construction decks come into vogue, then everyone makes one, then we all kind of stop caring for a while. Then they pop back up.

I bet the profit margins on these are much better

According to the description on the DLX Shop, it is interwoven basalt fibers. Further research said the rock is processed into fiberous material which is strong, abrasion resistant, and cheaper than carbon fiber. It is not however as stiff as carbon fiber. No suprise that basalt fiber is usually interwoven with carbon fiber in such applications as aerospace.

I've stopped doing frontside flips completely because I'm incapable of landing softly on the nose when I do em. If this board survives a day of doing fs flips regularly then it is the truth as far as I'm concerned.

They’re not advertising them as being completely indestructible though. Kinda sus that each employee broke one within a week. Are these dudes just stomping down front lips on flatbars or what?

One is pro and does skate rails, gaps, and stairs and tried one for fun the 2 others have had footage in major brand edits but are more ledge and manual skaters with the odd set and rail mixed in. They're just powerful skaters and by their own admission break a decent amount of tails.

No one said DLX is advertising them as such, but they seem to snap just as easily. I don't know much about VX decks, but supposedly Pop Secret decks are less prone to snapping according to the one team rider from Crail I spoke to who tries to ride them whenever they can.

I'm th same with backside heelflips. Broken more boards on that trick than all other tricks put together
