Haven’t watched this yet but it’s some post-volcanic material. I know Gnu/Lib Tech snowboards use(d) the material in construction dating back at least ten years.

Mervin also rumored to have used pink foam insulation from Home Depot in their surfboards. No idea if that’d actually be inferior to whatever real surfboard blanks are made from but I would bet a bit of money it’s true.

I briefly tried one of these dbx boards that was three months old, razor tailed like a mf, had to be regripped, looked dusty as hell... pop still felt and sounded brand new.

basalt is brittle, not sure how it would hold up to chipping or snapping. But as far as retaining pop, it really seems to work.

This sounds just like my experience with P2 boards in the 2010s; yes they chipped and wore to a razor tail but they were difficult to outright snap and the pop lasted longer than any other boards I've skated. Had a lot of flex towards the end of their life but I only ever "snapped" one, the others were just chipped too much.
Like even a full set up I had shoot into a river, that held its pop for literal weeks after that as my primary board.

I had a slew of them- multiple Plan Bs , Flip decks and Creature iirc. I back those, but they weren't 120 quid. It was like an extra £5 on rrp. Like to how how these are in comparison.

The impact jawns?

I remember those, I had a haslam almost.

The carbon fiber mixed with the resin construction was sturdy as hell.

Your options are 2cents decenzo boards or sk8mafia TJ boards.

does anyone really break boards that much?  It doesn't seem as common because alot less skaters are....well.....trying.

while we're on what ever happened to!?!?!  Was it Expedition or Chapman that did the little insert boards, so you could replace your tail/nose?  The Schmitt bumper board actually worked from what I recall....

The only board I can think of being worth it something that doesn't razor as quickly...

I'll try one. Looks promising and i like supporting deluxe. Like someone else said I've only broken boards on some too stomped front lips on lower rails. And the tail, which would end up being my nose, on front shoves. Mosty skated low impact stuff though. If it lasts me 6 months I'd be happy as hell

I still break boards a lot. Doing shitty flip tricks down three stairs and not landing bolts has cost me a lot of money.  Usually its because i land tail heavy and crack it by the bolts.

My mate had a metal deck back in the day and the edge around the nose and tail were plastic and replaceable. Can't remember the brand but it weighed a ton and he would get the worst shinners

I had one of these made by Yocaher that had replaceable bumpers on nose and tail. It lasted me 7 months when I was skating 5+ hrs daily and was only retired when it didn’t pop Well enough. The shinners sucked and it slid weird but that thing saved me so much money. I would buy two today if I could find them but they’re all gone or stuck in some Chinese warehouse purgatory.

I break boards regularly. Usually it happens from just skating flatground. At 195 I am probably on the heavier side, though…

I know of at least two universities that have groups looking at carbon dioxide storage in basalt.

I imagine the basalt technology is a Generator/BBS development and they just partnered with DLX on the initial rollout, but ultimately may be available for any brands that use the woodshop

I find interesting dlx would go this route vs finding affordable decks and hopefully making something less expensive.
People scoff at 80+ VX decks, and while they are better, most people just simply do not have the money, and if like stated they still l break it would seem that it's still not a major improvement.

would be curious for a review by a reputable source.

I'm in NZ and we are now getting the DLX China decks. Anything that isn't a classic eagle is now made in China. I picked up a Raney Bere's 9" pop and I thought I was getting a regular BBS deck but this wasn't the case. The China decks so seem to be considerably cheaper however. The concave and shapes are a pretty good replication but they are a bit steeper and they are stiff and a touch heavier. I guess it is good to have a cheaper option but I still prefer a BBS Mex deck to these new ones.

Here in AU and looking at the same situation.

Curious to see and try one of these, but I don't feel the need to grab one as soon as they get here.

* Also glad I stocked up on regular BBS boards too.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I had one of these decks and fucking loved it. Lasted a noticeably long time, never broke either, and it was at a time that I was breaking almost a board a week.
