Damn yall haters. I liked it a lot. If I wanted to watch "high level" skating I'd watch the disorder video or some shit.

The vibes and presentation were good. The skating was interesting. That's all I care about.

Just watched it. I can’t keep up with all the whos and what’s in the skateboarding industry anymore but slowly catching back on. Admittedly didn’t know anything about Sci-Fi other than I’ve heard of them and considered some decks before but didn’t find what I was looking for and moved on. What style or how would you compare their decks because now that I know more about them, I’d like to support them.

So, I saw this vid in my feed so naturally watched it with no expectations. Really impressed right off the bat and as it went on, I thought to myself, “is that Gifted Hater? Naw…”. I haven’t even watched more than a couple of his channels vids but he looked familiar so that was a bit of a shock to realize it was him and how impressed with his part I was.

As the video went on, I noticed a distinct, intentional style that really worked for me. I wouldn’t say the most incredible, next level skating went down in it but it was all really enjoyable stuff that I like to see. Definitely the standout video of the year that I’ve seen so far and makes me a fan. So yeah, if they have decks that I like, I’d definitely pick one up just to support.

Oh, and the music… definitely some stuff I would never listen to or think of for a skate vid but they made it work for what they were trying to do so it all added to the whole package.

Video of the year easily. Some of you are stuck in your era and/or have some kind of negative bias towards the team/brand with some of these homunculi opinions in here.

Woah there lol, I guess people can't have opinions on subjective works also this coming from someone who liked the vid

I think the idea is that creativity should make up for lack of talent. Something like crook-shuv-50 from a 2 stair to curb is neither skillful nor creative. It's just a dud of a trick, and there were a handful of these in the video.

I love this video and I love this era (dad hat era) of skating. The music, non-skate filler clips, sound/video editing and overall aesthetic are just so much fun. Eclectic yet cohesive team, with everyones tricks able to make me exclaim comments out loud in excitement.

You could say these same things about the first 917 video, which came out 8 years ago.

I think some of you just don’t give a shit about the artistry and expressive nature of skating and just want to watch people do really hard tricks on shit you’d never be able to skate.

I'm not that interested in watching the gnar-est of the gnar. When I think of my favorite videos over the past several years, stuff like John's Vid, Polar's We Blew It at Some Point, and Quasi's Mother come to mind. I think most can agree those score very highly in showing off the "artistry and expressive nature of skating." However, all of those videos also have an incredibly high level of skating from basically every skater. Too much of this video felt like a Frog tour video or something. And I find Joa's videos are very funny, but putting a YouTuber on your team just for him to do tricks that he would trash if any other skater did them... very uncool imo.

Two separate people in this thread saying they expected more from Ryan Lay??

Besides the fact he’s 37 and been putting out video parts since 2005, that was one of the best Lay parts of them all. Y’all got me baffled.

If someone could make an edit of just Ryan and Jerry that would be rad.  Not saying the rest wasn't good or ok, but I'm old and they hit what I was looking for out of this.  Jerry's style is *chefs kiss

If I were Ryan Lay, pushing myself for my part to the point where I pissed blood multiple times and felt that my boss was conveying "Look, this is your opportunity. You know… Don’t blow it." and then I saw my part in the context of this entire video, I'd start phoning it in a lot more and giving these parts to New Balance.

insane deep cut

ya i loved this so much

those late night stars guys were rocking a lot of salem gear a couple years back so not surprising they pulled this one out

i loved this video, perfect video for me, amazing soundtrack - seeing someone skate to the janet jackson song made my night

when i first heard they went on a trip to toronto i was surprised - as much as i like the place it doesn't seem like an international destination but they made it look good!

I dont think this needed to be 36 minutes. I liked it but probably won't rewatch without skipping parts
You guys really love to pat yourselves on the back for having a superior more cultured taste in skating

The Limewire -link that has been circulating for couple of days has been taken down now.

Arin posted on ig story that the video will be soon here https://m.youtube.com/@SCIFIFANTASYLLC
Is the soon tonight or by the end of this month remains to be seen.

(edit. now that the video is out no need for spoiler -tag.)
The video itself is really sick!
Soundtrack is great and I love how they managed to compile list of songs from different genres and decades and still make em fit together.
Tho I understand that the music is definetly not for everybody, it is still really ”fresh” and up to date set of song choises.

Zaks (first) song witch has been mentioned here to be really hard to take in, was small highlight for me and I feel like this finally got me in to Salem.
It also make perfect sense that ther is a Salem -track  in a video by Matt King.
Zaks song got me reminicing about the early 2010 nagajoose -video that for what i recall was basically a ”witch house the skate movie”. Did some research and felt amazed when realized that video was alao made by Matt King.

Regarding skateboarding I really liked most of the parts and the part I liked least was still fine. There were like handfull of clips throughout the video that I would have cut out, but nothing too serious.

I think its not even up for debate that Ryans part has the hardest/best quality skating in the video, but at the same time it feels like the part almost fits the least in to the rest of the video.
Thats I think is also the reason they chose Coreys part to be the last in the video, over Ryans.
Coreys part is more suitable part to tie up the video.

If you guys over at Sci-Fi happen to read this. Please release this video on dvd. I promise I will buy two copies.

Adding to the Salem -talk.

The credits tell that Akwasis second song is a collaboration between Lil Peptoman (=Matt King) and Jack Donoghue. So sick! That must be some sort of dream come true for Matt.

Ryans second song, the remixed Miley Cyrus song is also by Donoghue.

Also to who the fuck tried to talk down this video by comparing it to the first 917 video just empahasuzid how good Endless Beauty is.

Wont stop requesting a dvd -release.
Please Sci-Fi, make a hard copy happen <3.

You would really rather his footage be edited like a new balance commercial than it was in this fun video? And you really think Jerry Hsu is telling him that if he doesn’t kill himself he’s blowing it, Chief style? He’s literally an endurance runner and pushes himself to the point of exhaustion for fun.

Had a blast watching this video during the premier and it still hits the second time through.
Loved everyone in this but I knew this would be a repeat for me when I heard Janet Jackson during Gabbe's part.

Theres slight changes between the premiere version and this final release. In addition of 7min credits section a handfull of changes in Joas part was made.

Also in Coreys part a curved boardslide was added to replace two weak clips.

Anyone notice something else?

This video is like what that guy said what competitive air guitaring at the competitive air guitar festival is like in that documentary about air guitar... it's a joke you've told so many times, it's not a joke anymore, it's just the thing you do everyday.

GH part's a good metaphor. It's nuts, and it's him doing tricks he would giftedly hate about if done by someone else, and he does them unironically in joyful union with a bunch of people who seem to also unironically ride for a brand called Sci Fi Fantasy without considering it dorky.

The fact that this video exists is fucking baffling - I dunno if I love it, but I think that we are lucky to have it. It's like the Edglrd video set out for a thing that imploded because it was too busy being pissed off at people for what it thought would make it popular in their eyes, but instead of being stuck with an ultra cynical douchebag that thinks he's the shit because he tricked us into hanging out with him, this video means we get the friend who is first and foremost a friend - just this dude who's like "hey man, I don't have the guest list invite to the Miami night club or anything, but I do have a pretty wicked DND campaign mapped out, and it might not be for you, but if it is, I think you'll have a good time". I do not deserve this friend, but if I can still consider this friend mine and this friend considers me a friend as well, then I am truly lucky.

I wonder if people are being overly harsh because GH is in it, trying to dish out the criticality he would give to others, a kind of 'tit for tat' situation.

would people be more accepting if he simply wasn't in it? I do like his part a lot though.

Every once in a while a video comes along that feels relatable, for me this is one of those. It makes me feel that me and my friends could make something similarly cool, albeit with lesser skating.

Loved the vid.

I had a dream earlier this week where I saw all of Ryan Lays part in an insane level of detail. I was waiting for a switch Ollie over a handrail to switch back grind roll in into a pool. The dream was obviously nuts considering he switch barrel rolled into a fish and got spat out happy Gilmore style but I really enjoyed it.

Definitely going to rerun Johnny vid tho

Yeah, i'm tripping on a trick that was removed from joa's part. In the limewire version he does a front noseslide to fakie manual big flip out. you seem him bailing the end of the trick at 1:55 in this final version. i thought it was a sick clip.
edit: just watched that video linked above and he says he took it out cause he touched on the manual. i would've left it in.

The sci-fi animation at the very start was a little different, it said 'generic technology' instead of whatever this one says.

Definitely a video i have been and will continue to rewatch.

Jerry, Arin, Ryan Lay and Corey Glick were amazing. Everyone else should be on Frog flow or just not have a board sponsor.

Joa was so underwhelming, krook shuv it to grind? Pretty harsh trick selection.

Can’t wait until the 90’s are over. These fits kids are wearing are getting harder and harder to take seriously.

Pretty much agree except I'm no Joa fan but he definitely had the best part of the others.

I think for me if you just think of it as first half homie video second half real video it's easier.
